Hotel Description
If a 'Stay aboard the Queen Mary for an experience unlike any other.' is for you, board the Queen Mary Hotel for an experience unlike any other. Once a world-class ocean liner, the Queen Mary, now permanently stationed in Long Beach, offers a real glimpse into what transatlantic travel was like during the 30s, 40s and 50s. With its impressive history and tradition of excellence, the ship is more than just a place to rest one's head. It's also a place where you can take historic tours, see paranormal attractions, browse shops, relax on the spacious sun deck or enjoy fresh seafood at Chelsea Chowder House & Bar. Even in the rooms you'll find an impressive history, rich tradition and old world elegance. The ship's 346 original first-class staterooms and nine suites, adorned with rich wood paneling from all over the world, Art Deco built-ins and original artwork found on the ship during her heyday, all pay homage to a bygone era. Enjoy one of the last luxury ocean liners of its kind.

It was nice to stay...

Liked: Historic property on the water. Has a few shops and places to eat.
Disliked: The property is isolated. The ferry’s were not running at the time making it difficult to get to downtown. There’s nothing to do in the immediate area of the ship. The walls of the hotel are paper thin. We could hear everything in the other rooms and hallways. The beds were definitely not queen beds. The beds were really small.

It's like very average hotel,...

Liked: The room was huge and clean; the beds were also wide and comfy. The beddings were in good condition. The bathroom is big enough. It was a very good experience for the whole family, including my son, who is a huge fan of old transatlantic ships. Many areas of the ship are available to visit anytime during the day on your own, including the machine room, the upper open deck, and the bridge.
Disliked: The room was advertised as having AC. However, it didn't work. I called the front desk; they said, "The ship is very old, and our rooms don't have working air conditioning." Fortunately, the window can be opened, but it takes time for the room to cool down after a hot day.The room is adjoining the other suite with a very thin wooden door between them. It doesn't have any sound isolation, so even a conversation is perfectly audible, making it hard to fall asleep while our neighbours were speaking and watching TV until midnight. The breakfast is very average for the price, especially since they charged the full amount for a 5-year-old child. If the experience of the overnight stay on the ship is not a must-have for you, consider taking a paid visit instead.
