Hotel Description
The Priory is nestled within the historic town of Caerleon on the River Usk. Dating back to 1180 this hotel was originally a Cistercian monastery. It has a fantastic à la carte restaurant and is located in secluded grounds in the historic town of Caerleon on the River Usk. Many of the traditional rooms at The Priory Hotel retain original period features and all come with a flat-screen multi-channel TV. Rooms all have picturesque views their own bathroom and a work desk. Each morning breakfast is provided in the Oak Panel Room with its antique stained glass and wooden panels that date back to 1622. The restaurant offers a wide-ranging menu for evening meals and outdoor seating is available in the pretty gardens. The center of Newport is just a 10-minute drive from The Priory. Cardiff and Bristol can both be reached in around 30 minutes by car.

Beautiful and friendly, hope to...

Liked: Beautiful building, room, grounds, even the car park. Friendly, professional staff made us feel welcome and well attended to. Super comfortable room even though we went for the more affordable cosy room which was a little tight on one side of the bed but otherwise just perfect. We were only there one night and didn't get the chance to experience everything - didn't even have time to try a coffee in the room - but we hope to go back in the future. Could have had more choice for vegans at breakfast but was able to request plant milk no problem at least, and I can imagine vegan guests being in a tiny minority so I don't blame them. We really enjoyed our stay and are really glad we found the Priory!!

Nice and peaceful stay

Liked: THe dinner, the bass was quite good. Service is bit slow with the serving of wine. and the meals took a bit of time.

Nice stay but with caveats

Liked: Lovely period hotel in peaceful grounds with easy onsite parking./ Our bedroom was of a good standard and very clean./We only had breakfast but the food quality was good.
Disliked: Being asked for a security deposit on my card was a surprise. I have stayed at many hotels in lifetime, including The Dorchester, but I have never had such a request before.Unfortunately, Kelsey's very customer friendly attitude wasn't reflected amongst every member of staff we encountered. Service with a smile is paramount in the hospitality industry, and whilst not worthy of complaint ( I am being very kind), management need to " walk the floor" to see how their staff interact with guests to identify any development needs

The Priory team created a...

Liked: The buildings had great character, giving the hotel a charm and uniqueness. I’d normally avoid hotels with no air conditioning, but I was there on tires hottest day of the year, no need for air conditions when you are in a historic building with walls two feet thick
