The Spotlight on The Princess Victoria

Historic Charm and Modern Comfort in West London

A former Victorian gin palace turned boutique hotel, The Princess Victoria blends timeless charm with contemporary style. Located on Uxbridge Road in West London, this handsome pub-with-rooms is ideally placed for concert-goers heading to venues like Eventim Apollo or Shepherd’s Bush Empire. With just a few beautifully designed rooms above a lively gastropub, it offers a warm, intimate vibe that’s perfect for unwinding after a night of live music.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just under two miles from the legendary Eventim Apollo, and well connected to other venues via nearby tube stations like Shepherd’s Bush and Acton Central. Despite the buzz outside, the rooms are well soundproofed, giving you a chance to recharge in peace. The 3:00 PM check-in and 11:00 AM check-out offer solid flexibility, and the welcoming pub atmosphere downstairs means you’re never far from a nightcap or post-show snack.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for a stylish, social base
Solo travelers chasing a dream gig in London
Couples planning a weekend of music and city vibes
Fans who want a calm, characterful place to crash
Budget-conscious music lovers wanting boutique style without breaking the bank

Food and Drink Options

The on-site restaurant serves up modern British fare with vegetarian, vegan, and dairy-free options available. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the bar and kitchen stay open late enough to satisfy post-show cravings. Breakfast is available, making recovery after a big night out that much easier. Plus, you’re within walking distance of plenty of local eateries for even more late-night bites.

Nightlife Options

The downstairs bar is a local favorite, known for its craft beer selection, fine wines, and relaxed atmosphere. While it’s not a live music venue itself, you’ll find several buzzing pubs and late-night spots nearby in Shepherd’s Bush and Notting Hill. Whether you're after a quiet drink or dancing till late, options are close and convenient.

What People Say

Guests love the stylish rooms, with many highlighting the comfy beds, rainfall showers, and boutique decor. The on-site pub gets high marks for its food, drink, and friendly vibe. Reviews also praise the hotel’s location for both transport links and access to London’s music and cultural scenes. It’s a great mix of character, comfort, and convenience.

Areas for Improvement

With only a handful of rooms, availability can be tight on concert weekends—book ahead! Also, being above a popular pub means there may be a bit of ambient noise downstairs early in the evening, but things usually quiet down by bedtime.

The Bottom Line

If you’re heading to a gig in West London and want a stylish, relaxed place to stay within easy reach of the action, The Princess Victoria hits all the right notes.

A fairly decent stay if...

Liked: Considering how hot the weather was over the weekend I stayed, the AC unit was a godsend. The pillows and duvet were really cosy. There's a separate side door that guests can use to enter the building with a code which made coming and going very easy. There's a bus stop just opposite, with buses that take you towards Shepherd's Bush Market tube or Westfield.
Disliked: The room was noticeably tired and unloved. Scuff marks everywhere which are more noticeable due to dark paint. Cleanliness wasn't as immaculate as you'd like it to be (e.g. dust, cobwebs, smudges on the mirror, headboard cover discoloured). The blind was partially broken and didn't close all the way. The shower was very weak and stopped halfway through to a trickle, the dial to adjust the water temperature was stuck. The TV had a glitch across it. The pedal bin in the bathroom didn't open. The fridge was tepid, nowhere near cold enough to chill anything. Was told there would be milk provided in the fridge but there wasn't any. It's a shame because the rooms were probably lovely when they were first decorated, but it does feel like with wear and tear - little effort has been made to give it a much needed refresh. Be prepared for noise but let me clarify - the rooms sit on the 2nd floor and there's a function room on the 1st floor that blares music late into the evening. That's where the majority of the noise comes from. The road and pub-goers on the ground floor are actually fine. If you're an early sleeper - this will absolutely disturb your rest as the bass thrums directly below you. (I luckily sleep quite late so I settled in once the pub closed).

We loved it.

Liked: Loved the pub. The 50% off Tuesdays was amazing with happy hour as well. The best value for money food in London.
Disliked: The shower only had one temperature which was scolding hot. The tv kept tilting. The toilet was constantly making noises as though it had just been flushed. In the restaurant their was an argument between two ables because a large table of guest weren’t sitting down and pretty walking around like they owned the place and were standing over other guests which we found quite strange and why it took a while to tell them to sit down.
