Pleasant

Liked: Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good options for dietary needs, especially the breakfast. Lovely location by the river.
Disliked: The rooms need updating, lots of marks on the walls and tiles broken or missing in the bathroom. The window frames are in a poor state. Mattresses need changing as springs can be felt. The hotel needs updating.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful...

Liked: Beautiful location and hotel. Lovely staff. Had food in the evening which from some reviews had us managing expectations but it was really lovely. Good breakfast as well. Beds comfy. Would definitely go back.
Disliked: We stayed in the cottages. Whilst some refurbishment has clearly been carried out, the doors and some of the carpets and exterior are tired and one of our party had a ground floor room and had a lot of noise from upstairs.

Beautiful surroundings, but the property...

Liked: The location was lovely, meals in restaurant were nice. Staffing pleasant. Main building in better condition.Lovely walk along river bank apart from head high nettles. Seating areas outside nice.
Disliked: The cottages disappointing in need of TLC. Outside very shabby, rotten wood on the porches, broken window in our room. Looked dirty outside. Lots of cobwebs. The room smelt damp, pillows were flat and the matress uncomfortable, not a great night's sleep.Breakfast buffet style, plenty of choice but the bacon over cooked and difficult to eat. Some of the more senior staff spoke awful to waitresses and bar staff within customer ear shot.

Pleasant stay, good location

Liked: Stayed here a few times for the WSB weekend. Close proximity to to track (£8 in an Uber). We stayed in cottage this time which had fab views. And we were able to park our car right outside. There’s now a lovely seating area beside the river which is great for drinks post-racing.Staff pleasant, we only had breakfast which was nice enough (usual buffet), but restaurant seemed busy and meals looked nice.It does get warm in the rooms as no air conditioning but there was a large fan in the room which we left on. The cottages are sheltered from the sun meaning they are actually more comfortable in the heat than the main hotel. We will be staying again.
Disliked: It was a pleasant and value for money. No complaints for what we paid.
