Worth it on a budget...

Liked: As others have said, staff were fantastic, really helpful, very pleasant and willing to share local knowledge and make you feel welcome. Housekeeping checked in every day to see if there was anything that needed topping up. Really nice unexpected touch was little bottles of shampoo/shower gel etc (this is pitted as a 'bargain' type hotel so you wouldnt normally get little things like that). Also provided bottles of water, not just the standard tea/coffee which was great, and biscoff biscuits. Towels were really big, which were perfect as well as hangers in the room with enough hanging space for a short stay. The plug sockets either side of the bed were great and as a bonus each had USB sockets included. The location of the hotel is also absolutely spot onThe Skuba bar is attached to the hotel and as others have also commented, once you close the door to your room, you cant hear anything so isnt an issue
Disliked: Remember this is a budget hotel so dont complain if you dont find certain 5 star elements - the hotel is more than great for the price you pay though. Yes it is a little worn and yes could do with redecorating in certain areas but as long as you dont have unrealistic expectations, it should more than meet your needs for a great stay. The only key downside with the room I had was no net curtains (and it wasnt a biggie) - it meant the room was completely overlooked by the hotel across the road. You can just close the curtains each time but is a bit of a faff during the daytime having to do it every time you want to get changed, come out of the shower etc but definitely not the end of the world

Nice location and nicely decorated...

Liked: It has a nice location, very close to the sea and the zig zag path. The room was nicely decorated and was a decent size, bottled water and ample tea and coffee were provided which was nice. The bed was clean and the towels were soft. There was a large fan and also the windows opened properly which is great for the summer. The price was very reasonable, despite being above a bar it was pretty quiet except for a small barking dog which had a good yap when anyone walked past it's room, not sure if it belonged to staff or a guest. I do however LOVE that it was dog friendly. Also the bar it was above had a large seafront garden with sun or shade which had I stayed longer I would definately use.
Disliked: Top floor with no lift which was unfortunate and difficult for disabilities, children, elderly, luggage etc but that is what it is and not a problem for everyone. The shower was coming away from the wall with missing and loose screws which is a simple fix. The curtains slid off the end of the rail when you opened them. Slightly overlooked whilst lying in bed or getting out of the shower.

Liked: Hotel was easy to find, big comfortable rooms. Great kudos to the landlady who immediately upgraded me to ground floor room on seeing my difficulties in walking. That was very much appreciated . I cannot express my gratitude and relief enough. All the staff were courteous and welcoming.

Great for what it was...

Liked: The rooms were large, the beds were comfy and the staff were friendly.
Disliked: The hotel is attached to a bar which was loud and lively with karaoke. I don't have an issue with that but I was with 3 young kids when I arrived. Not an issue really, just didn't expect it so signposting probably could be improved.

Value for money, very pleasant...

Liked: Beautiful location. Helpful friendly staff member who checked us in. Lovely big family room which was accessible. Lovely added touches of chocolates and biscuits. Thank you!
Disliked: Outdated. Bathroom a bit tired looking. Shower gurgled and bubbled water when sink taps were on or toilet flushed.
