Cosy hotel with friendly staff

Liked: This hotel is really cosy and the staff made you feel comfortable before even stepping in the door. We really enjoyed our room and since we were in Washington during a heatwave we spent some time just relaxing with the AC on. The breakfast is good and self-service and some items are available throughout the day such as coffee, tea and other beverages. I woke early because of jetlag and it was nice to be able to go down and make a cup of tea before breakfast officially started. Free water bottles was also really nice. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Although we were a bit sceptical at first, the keyless system worked really well and was programmed so we could let ourselves in when arriving late. There is also a Market across the street open late where you can buy snacks or prepared meals.
Disliked: We had the room just at the top of the stairs and the door was quite thin which meant I woke up every morning when the staff started to put out breakfast and you can hear the loud beeps from your neighborhoods lockpad on their door. Our shower head was leaking, which the manager got checked out really fast, but the could not fix it right away which led to a constant dripping sound in the room. We solved it by closing the bathroom door but this made it really hot and humid in their without the AC. None of these were dealbreakers and we really enjoyed our stay.

Great guest house.

Liked: Good continental breakfast options. Free snacks and drinks available all day. Great location.
Disliked: Our bedroom adjacent to the garden so people could look into our room.

Wonderful stay in the heart...

Liked: The Poppy feels like a home away from home. Super cute and comfortable boutique hotel in Georgetown. Great neighborhood, helpful staff and a well designed communal space for breakfast and gathering with guests. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
