The Spotlight on The Poplars Hotel

Charming Village Retreat Just Minutes from the Action

Tucked away in the peaceful village of Moulton, The Poplars Hotel is a 300-year-old stone building with a modern twist. This award-winning 4-star hotel blends countryside charm with updated comforts, offering a relaxing base just 15 minutes’ drive from Northampton’s concert venues and nightlife.

Why Concert-goers love it

If you're heading to a gig in Northampton, The Poplars is a quiet haven to return to. It's just a short drive from town—far enough from the noise, but close enough to make showtime stress-free. With free parking and flexible check-in from 15:00, there's no scrambling for space or rushing to get ready. The calm village setting is perfect for recovering after a loud night, and late check-out at 11:30 makes sleeping in totally doable.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking to unwind after the show
Solo travelers attending a must-see gig
Couples making a weekend of it in the countryside
Fans who want a quiet post-concert recovery spot
Budget-conscious music lovers needing value and comfort

Food and Drink Options

Start your day (or recover from your night) with a hearty full English breakfast made with locally sourced ingredients, plus a cold buffet. While there's no 24/7 room service, the seasonal dining options available on-site are perfect for a pre-show bite or post-show wind-down. Cozy pubs and local eateries are also within a short drive or walk.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself keeps things tranquil, you’re just a quick drive from Northampton’s pubs, bars, and late-night spots. After the show, you can enjoy a drink in town or head back for a quiet night under the stars.

What People Say

Guests rave about the friendly staff, spotlessly clean rooms, and the charming character of the building. Many love the peaceful village location that offers a real break from city noise. The free parking and value for money are also frequently praised.

Areas for Improvement

The rural setting means you’ll need a car or taxi to reach venues and nightlife—public transport is limited late at night. And while the building is historic and full of charm, that can sometimes mean slightly smaller room sizes or quirky layouts.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want a peaceful, cozy base with easy access to Northampton’s venues, The Poplars Hotel hits all the right notes.

Great place to stay

Liked: Non chain. Quaint. Great breakfast. Coop, pubs and chip shop within 5 min walk. Hosts acknowledge you may want to get a take away and suggest how you manage it (badly worded on my part, but you don’t have to hide it)
Disliked: Road slightly busier than expected.

Worth a stay, small but...

Liked: The building, small but exactly what an old being is. The room, small but had everything. The bathroom was small however again, everything you need, especially the toiletries, of a good standards and smelt great. The breakfast, "spot on", the ingredients were great, well cooked.
Disliked: Nothing, all great.
