The Spotlight on The Place

Stylish Georgian Charm in the Heart of Edinburgh

Modern comfort meets classic elegance at The Place Hotel, a 4-star stay housed across three beautiful Georgian townhouses. Located in Edinburgh’s vibrant city centre, this boutique hotel offers a sleek, stylish vibe with easy access to theatres, bars, and iconic venues. Whether you're catching a show or exploring the city, it’s all right on your doorstep.

Each room blends historic charm with modern design, featuring a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, and a sleek private bathroom stocked with luxury toiletries. Some rooms even offer views over the Firth of Forth—a peaceful way to start or end a busy concert day.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel is in a prime spot—just a 5-minute walk from the Playhouse Theatre and George Street’s music-friendly bars. With Edinburgh Waverley Station only 10 minutes away on foot, getting to and from gigs is a breeze. The atmosphere is relaxed and modern, making it a great place to recharge after a high-energy show. Plus, the 3:00 PM check-in gives you time to settle in before the evening starts, and the 11:00 AM check-out means no early wakeups after a late night out.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a stylish base near the nightlife
- Solo travelers ticking off a bucket-list artist at the Playhouse
- Couples making a romantic weekend of live music and city exploring
- Fans wanting a quieter place to unwind post-concert
- Budget-conscious music lovers seeking value in the city centre

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s on-site bar serves up a classy atmosphere and a well-crafted cocktail list—perfect for a nightcap. While there’s no 24/7 room service, you’ll find plenty of late-night dining options within a short walk on George Street. And if you’ve been out late, you’ll appreciate the option of a relaxed breakfast to ease into your day.

Nightlife Options

Staying at The Place puts you within easy reach of some of Edinburgh’s best bars, clubs, and lounges. Whether you’re looking for a refined evening or somewhere to keep the party going, you’re covered. The hotel bar is also a chill spot to unwind with a local drink before or after the main event.

What People Say

Guests rave about the hotel’s location, beautiful rooms, and friendly staff. Many mention how easy it is to walk to shows and enjoy the nightlife without needing a taxi. The classy interiors and comfy beds also get regular shout-outs from travelers recovering from a big night out.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that rooms facing the street might catch a bit of city noise—earplugs could be a good idea if you're a light sleeper. There’s no on-site restaurant for full meals, but with so many nearby options, it’s rarely a deal-breaker.

The Bottom Line

If you're headed to Edinburgh for a concert, The Place Hotel offers a stylish, central, and hassle-free stay just minutes from the music and nightlife.

Good location but rather expensive.

Liked: The location was good, and the staff friendly and helpful. The room had a portable fan, which was needed as it was very hot. The lounges and balcony on the ground floor were very smart, and I loved the photographs on the walls. The breakfast was good.
Disliked: It was expensive for a fairly ordinary twin basement room, with only one chair, 4 coat hangers, and limited shelf space in the bathroom. There was no decaffinated tea or coffee in the room.

Our room did not reflect...

Liked: Good shower
Disliked: The room had no A/C and only a single Velux skylight that was controlled by a remote on the wall. However, this kept closing itself meaning that the room was stifling hot through the night, making it difficult to sleep and very uncomfortable

Very disappointed as stayed here...

Liked: Staff are friendly and helped resolve our original room situation Very clean although dated rooms Breakfast has a good variety
Disliked: Room we were given was ridiculously small for over £200 a night Down in the basement, dark & very small.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay,...

Liked: Clean, friendly staff and close to both the new and old town and the train station.
Disliked: Mum and daughter booked a standard double room, and we were given a small cosy room felt like we were in the basement.

Fair - 2.5 out of 5

Passable

Disliked: Like many european single rooms, my room was essentially a closet with a tiny loo. Single guests pay top dollar but are given almost enough room to turn around in the tiny rooms we get. The only place available for opening my suitcase was on the narrow bed. The shower was so narrow that I could not bend over to wash my feet. Hotels should be honest about the kind of accommodation they provide for single travelers.
