Disliked: Rooms on the street are a bit noisy

Liked: Room was excellent location was excellent, mins away from st James quarter and handy for princes street
Disliked: There is no lift in the hotel lots of stairs to the rooms heads up if any mobility problems request a low floor

Liked: I got a room upgrade, which was a nice surprise, and the staff was always friendly and helpful. I left my bag at the hotel 2h before check-in and when I came back, it had already been brought into my room. I stayed for 3 nights and the location was central enough for me to explore Old Town and New Town on foot, though I acquired a lot of steps. The room was nice and clean (as long as you didn't look at anything too closely) and I personally had no problem sleeping in the bed. The view from the upgraded room was great (see pictures). There is some sort of bar (?) right outside the window, so sometimes you could hear semi-loud music playing. One night I thought I would need ear plugs, but the music stopped right when I went to bed. Overall everything I needed for my trip.

Great value hotel minutes from...

Liked: The staff was amazing. I had a sore ankle and asked for ice and they brought me multiple ice packs and checked back on me, really thorough follow up. They were very friendly and helpful. I arrived early and they stored my bag, then later when I returned they brought my bag up to my room. They were also ok with me getting water for my water bottle from the bar.
Disliked: The bed was a little stiff and the room wasn’t the most sound proof. I still slept great but could hear people returning at night/walking up the stairs.

Rooms were disappointing

Liked: The location was good
Disliked: The mattress wasn’t very comfortable. Every morning we were woke by a really loud humming noise, sounded like pipes or shower motor. This happened several times each day. There wasn’t many coat hangers, no box of tissues or complementary biscuits that you get with your tea/coffee. We had a sky light/window in our room that people could look down into so wasn’t very happy. To be honest I wouldn’t class it as a 4star at all. Very disappointed
