The Spotlight on The Pirate Haus Inn

Colorful Comfort in the Heart of St. Augustine

Just steps from historic landmarks and only a few blocks from St. Augustine’s live music scene, The Pirate Haus Inn delivers a quirky, cozy vibe perfect for travelers who want charm without the chain-hotel feel. With its pirate-themed decor, shared lounge, and community terrace, this 2-star bed and breakfast is ideal for those who want to stay close to the action without sacrificing comfort or character.
Rooms are air-conditioned and include thoughtful touches like chocolates or cookies, and families will appreciate the indoor play area for younger guests.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything for music lovers, and The Pirate Haus Inn nails it. You're within easy walking distance of several popular music venues and late-night spots in the historic district. Despite the central location, past guests say it's surprisingly quiet at night, making it a great place to wind down after a show. Early check-in at 11:00 AM means you can drop your bags and explore, and the 10:00 AM check-out won’t feel too early after a night out. Plus, you can arrange private parking if you're driving in for a concert.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a fun, communal environment
  • Solo travelers catching a dream concert
  • Couples planning a romantic weekend with music
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery in a homey space
  • Budget-conscious music fans who want a great location without the high price tag

Food and Drink Options

While The Pirate Haus Inn doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, its unbeatable location means you're within walking distance of countless eateries, from late-night taco joints to charming bistros. They also offer a free pancake breakfast, perfect after a late night. Though there's no room service, the shared kitchen and communal vibe make it easy to grab a bite or brew a cup of coffee whenever you need it.

Nightlife Options

St. Augustine’s lively bar and music scene is just around the corner. Whether you're into dive bars with live guitar sets or craft cocktail lounges, you’ll find something just steps away. While the inn doesn’t host live music itself, its central location means you won’t miss a beat.

What People Say

Guests love the quirky pirate theme, friendly staff, and unbeatable walkable location. Many highlight how easy it is to get to nearby music venues and appreciate the laid-back, homey atmosphere. The family-run feel and communal spaces also get high marks for making solo travelers feel welcome.

Areas for Improvement

This isn’t your standard hotel, so don’t expect luxury amenities. There’s no elevator, which can be a challenge with luggage, and the decor leans playful rather than polished. But if you're after location and character, it delivers.

The Bottom Line

The Pirate Haus Inn is a fun, affordable base for concert-goers who want to be in the heart of St. Augustine’s live music and nightlife scene.

Liked: Everything was wonderful. Super helpful staff. Great area of downtown. It felt like being at home. We enjoyed being able to use the kitchen. Unique experience. Definitely hope to stay again.
Disliked: The wifi was not great, but we didn't need it much, so not really a big deal for us.

Back in time

Liked: I like everything! The ambience was awesome. The room and the linens were exceptional. My granddaughter especially loved the treasure map!
Disliked: Only that it didn't offer handicap accessories for instance in the shower no grab bar. If you require any kind of assistance then definitely not the place for you. Lots of steps, no handicap accessories at all but I knew that going on so I'm good. Still lives this place!!

Very good

Liked: The location to many of the spots that you want to visit is nice. Enjoyed the fact that once we parked, we did not have to drive anymore.
Disliked: The parking availability made it difficult. I do have a handicapped parking sticker. And I was unloading my car and while unloading. My car in an area that was not marked. Do not park. I received a $35 parking ticket. Unable to cancel or get it deleted. I had to pay the $35 plus I had to pay a $15 parking fee to park near the building..

Don’t stay - no emergency...

Liked: Absolutely nothing..
Disliked: Unfortunately, we didn’t get to complete our stay at this location because we never got to enter it. We were locked out. There isn’t someone available after 9 pm. We received a call about 1 hr before they closed (didn’t know someone wasn’t available at all times at time of booking) stating they would have an envelope for us and text us the details of how we can get to our room. I called and texted several times stating we never received the information promised. We get there at 11 pm and there is no envelope and no information provided on how to enter the property. We were locked out. What made this worse, is it was over memorial weekend so all the local hotels were full! Our family of 5 drove 1.5 hours to Orlando (which was our next destination) and was able to find a place after contacting 5 hotels looking for vacancy. This ruined our trip to St. Augustine. We really wanted to explore this town before our cruise. We drove 13 hours to this location and didn’t even get to enjoy it. Wasted the time and expensive gas going there. They should have an emergency number available for times like this. I contacted booking.com and they are assisting us with this matter. We sadly, though, are still awaiting a response. I definitely WOULD NOT recommend this place after this experience. How sad…

Good

Liked: Nice location in old St.Augustine. Close to old touristy town. Great breakfast – pancakes, also gluten-free option.
Disliked: Very noisy, you can hear everything inside and outside. I had problems to sleep the whole night.
