Such a disappointment

Liked: We paid for a delux double room in the hotel and were allocated a garden room with a small double bed ( three quarter not large as advertised ) Curtains were hanging off the rail . Room hadn’t been cleaned. At first our complaint was dismissed by the manager who was verging on rude . On insisting he accompany us to observe to room he agreed to change room . The second room had a large bed and was cleaner but definitely not a delux room . There were cobwebs and spiders everywhere . Windows and doors very dirty . Outside path was uneven and full of weeds .
Disliked: All the building rubble Off handedness of manager Room locationCleanliness of room

Relaxing break away from home,...

Liked: The property is beautiful, as we drove in the views were already amazing. When we entered we were greeted in the reception area. We were advised that we could treat the hotel like a home and use the rooms downstairs to sit peacefully, listen to music or simply sit and think. There are board games available to use in the beautiful lounge. Tastefully decorated for the type of property, with comfortable chairs and standing lamps. The bar opposite continues through with the themes of old meets new. The bar offered many variates of drink. Sometimes a hotel bar only has a couple of choices, but not here. Pretty much everything, reasonably priced. We sat in the bar room for a little while and then ventured out side through to a sea view, it takes your breath away. Sitting outside on very good furniture was a lovely place for my husband and I to talk and laugh and feel at home, feel like ourselves. Up a beautiful staircase we entered the grand hallway with old wonderful furniture. Our room was large, 2 chairs by the window to sit and have tea. We will book a room with a sea view next time. Our bed was clean and comfortable . The facilities were good. It was lovely to have such warm water for a bath considering the size of the hotel and the other guests. We only stayed one night unfortunately. We will definitely be returning.
Disliked: Some places were a little untidy. We understand fully that an old house / hotel invites spiders in to make webs which you can’t always get. But the room just needed a hover round and to dust the skirting boards. I know it sounds petty, but this is a criticism easily fixed.

Good sized comfortable room. Breakfast...

Liked: Nice location. Breakfast fair.
Disliked: Shower over the bath fixed head not so easy for elderly. Room on 1st floor had requested lower floor if no lift.

Gorgeous hotel in a stunning...

Liked: A gorgeous hotel in a stunning area. The parlour, stained glass windows, and views from the property are beautiful.
Disliked: There were some minor teething problems at the start of the stay, mostly around housekeeping, but the staff helped to resolve them quickly without any issue. The only concern I had was the low food hygiene rating (1/5). Otherwise, I loved the stay.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Robert Sat, 26 July 2025

Disappointing

Liked: Lovley hotel in a nice quiet location Large clean room with great facilities there is a bar area opening onto a patio also a restaurant
Disliked: On arrival at the hotel they took my credit card number stating it was for an account for the bar and restaurant bill then proceed to charge me for the room even though I had already paid through booking. Com when I asked for a refund they fob me off saying that they were sorting it I was refunded the over payment at the end of my stay The hotel is run more like a bed and breakfast If you require the bar then you have to look around for someone to serve you they close the restaurant if there is less than 6 people dinning so you have to travel to find somewhere to eat The restaurant only opened Saturday night during our stay
