A small basic hotel on...

Liked: Second time of staying at this hotel, just for one night this time. I was on the ground floor in a twin room which was an acceptable size with the facilities i needed, hairdryer for example. The location of this hotel is great being on Berkhamsted High Street a short walk from the station. 20% on food at the sister hotel The King Arms. Very good breakfast cooked to order. Had a lovely meal in the evening, very well looked after with my father in law. Food Intolerances well understood and catered for.
Disliked: This room can be a bit noisy as in the walk way to the car park.

Fantastic location in Berkhamsted High...

Liked: My room had a very good size modern shower room with a double size shower . The bedroom was a reasonable size for a few nights stay and quite quiet and comfortable. Plenty of space to unpack a few things and sufficient hangers. Iron and ironing board useful.The breakfasts cooked to order at the sister hotel the Kings Arms were excellent.
Disliked: Using the code to get into the annex front door as i kept forgeting it and it was a nusience in the dark.

A pleasant stay but lacking...

Liked: Quiet convenient location, room fair, parking a big benefit and staff pleasant.
Disliked: This is a lovely hotel with a warm welcome and have stayed here many times in the past. Sadly, it is in need of attention to room maintenance to ensure facilities are in good working order and room presentable to reflect tariff. Bathroom very faulty, paintwork clearly stained, iron faulty and repairs needed. Unfortunately the breakfast facility was no longer included which is a shame. This was excellent on previous stays. There is a discounted offer to have breakfast at sister Hotel further down High St but not such a convenient option when on specific time schedule. The King's Arms sister Hotel is similarly priced with far superior facilities but less of a quiet location and no onsite parking. Penny Farthing is a better option for a convenient quiet stay and worth investing in updating . A little more care and attention would restore this back to its former high standards and feel like better value for money
