Liked: The property was very close to a Park and Ride which makes access to the city a breeze. The hotel room was clean with a comfortable bed and an excellent breakfast. The room itself was in the old part of the hotel and so just felt a little dated compared to newer hotels I have stayed in. But arguably that could be viewed as part of its charm for some visitors. We felt it most noticeably in the lack of air conditioning, although we were staying during an unusual Yorkshire heat-wave - so again that might not be a problem for 90% of visitors. Otherwise, we did really enjoy our stay and we found the staff to be very attentive and helpful throughout.
Disliked: Slightly dated decor in our room and the lack of air conditioning. Otherwise, very pleasant and comfortable.

Disliked: The bathroom was full of black beetles , very old-fashioned, plus the chandeliers were full of flies

lovely hotel with good grounds...

Liked: We had a lovely room with a comfortable bed. We managed to use the spa twice and really enjoyed it.Had a good breakfast and they catered well for a gluten free option.
Disliked: Unfortunately there was a wedding on at the time we arrived so the grounds were a lot busier than usual, but we could not blame them for picking such a wonderful venue!

Perfect location, venue, room, food,...

Liked: Brilliant location only 15 mins from Elvington airstrip for the car / truck experiences and the air museum. Well worth a visit. Venue has great character. Lovely room in the main house over reception which we were worried might be noisy but it really wasn’t. Breakfast was great with good choice and everything kept hot. Spa facilities were very clean and huge pool. Booked a last minute facial which was perfect. Definitely recommend the treatments. The Fat Abbot was superb. Highly recommend the shepherds pie and all reasonably priced. Also black sheep and wainwright ales on tap so partner was very happy. 👏👏Also if you’re interested lots of different types of trees in the grounds that were fun trying to identify! 🌲🌳🤣
Disliked: Being super picky, some areas needed a bit of TLC, tidying garden outside and a lick of paint inside.

Room could have been better,...

Liked: The leisure facilities and the breakfast and the beautiful grounds. The location was amazing too! Comfortable seating area in the conservatory.
Disliked: The volume and duration the wedding that was on went on for and each time a guest opened the suite doors the volume of music was awful. There was nowhere for none wedding guest to sit and relax in the evening that wasn’t intruded upon by wedding guests and the sheer volume of music
