Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything, and this hotel delivers. Being just a 5-minute walk from Waverley Station makes late-night returns after a gig a breeze—especially if you're catching a train in or out of town. Despite its central location, the hotel offers a quiet, restful atmosphere, ideal after a high-energy show. With check-in from 14:00 and check-out at 11:00, there’s enough flexibility to enjoy a slow morning after a late night.

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s charming MP's Bistro serves a hearty cooked Scottish breakfast—perfect after a late night out. While dinner isn’t served in-house, you’re within easy walking distance of countless eateries, pubs, and late-night bites on Princes Street. There’s also a lounge bar with comfy armchairs and an open fire, ideal for a relaxing pre- or post-concert drink.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is a quiet retreat, you’re just a short walk from Edinburgh’s buzzing nightlife. Whether you’re after live music, cozy whisky bars, or lively clubs, it’s all nearby. Start your night in the lounge bar, then head out to explore the city’s vibrant scene.

What People Say

Guests consistently mention the excellent central location, the friendly and helpful staff, and the peaceful atmosphere despite being so close to city life. Many highlight the comfortable beds and charming character of the building, as well as the convenience for trains and buses.

Areas for Improvement

If you're staying between January 8–21, 2024, be aware that the elevator will be out of service for repairs. The hotel does have stairs, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re traveling with a lot of gear. Also, there’s no dinner service at the bistro, so plan to eat out in the evenings.

The Bottom Line

The Parliament House Hotel is a quiet, comfortable, and incredibly convenient base for concert-goers in the heart of Edinburgh.

Pretty hotel, good location but...

Liked: Room 102, was very small and the 2 of us had to work around one another, bathroom was very good but you could regularly hear water coming down the waste from rooms above. It was a hot stay but having the window open was not an option as the room was on a small road and very noisy. The room was very dark wood, which made the room look smaller and there were no coasters in the room to put drinks etc onto, we improvised with a city map from reception.Great location for the city centre, didn't eat or drink at the hotel.

A very nice hotel, comfortable...

Liked: Appreciated the boutique feel. The most comfortable beds of our entire trip - which is important. Good location near main shopping, old town, Calton Hill and a short walk to Waverley - we only had a five-minute walk from the hotel to the airport transit bus stop when departing.

Superb

Liked: A welcome respite from the city and traveling. Great location - easy walk from the train station and sites. Rooms large by European standards, well-appointed, clean, comfortable and quiet. The location is just off the Main Street so most of the noise is elsewhere. Lovely biscuits in the room, too!

Pleasant

Liked: The bath was great. The shower was comfortable but took a little getting used to (as a Dutch person). The shower seemed adjustable with the waterflow but didn't seem to be working in that regard. Utilities were great (mini fridge, glasses & mugs and a kettle) Bed was very comfortable Location was great, the city centre was a 3 minute walk and a shopping centre nearby was also very close.
Disliked: The pillows on the bed were a bit too soft for my liking. There was no form of AC in the room, and since the window couldn't be opened very wide there wasn't a good airflow in the room to keep the room on moderate temperature. We did stay in the summer, so that mightve also been the reason the room got so hot in the first place.

Very good

Liked: Nice and comfortable spot. Easily near train station and other shops.
Disliked: Elevator says it is “out of order” but there’s no mechanism for it to leave the first floor. We got lucky and were only on the first floor but be aware!
