Will definitely rebook next time...

Liked: So cute, and comfortable. Didn’t see any staff, but that’s ok! It was like checking into a vrbo. Super easy. Coffee maker and cute retro refrigerator and microwave in room. Also had a back patio, but it was to cold out to enjoy
Disliked: The church across the way had unsheltered people living there. You couldn’t see them from the hotel as they were on the other side. They didn’t come around. I felt safe, but definitely was aware of my surroundings when walking around outdoors

Do not waste your money...

Liked: This was advertised as a five star hotel. This property is not a hotel. It is an Airbnb at best. They’re going for retro, but what they really have is tired, old and shabby. I paid good money for this hotel to give my son a cool experience, and was extremely upset upon arrival.
Disliked: Everything. It was in a dark side street that seemed a little sketchy. There was no staff on site, so any issues had to be managed through email or a phone number. It smelled of cigarette smoke, and there was a shutter outside our window that banged literally all night long and so neither of us slept a wink. The bathroom floor was, for some unknown reason extremely oily, so it was hard to walk on. We had to throw down towels. The only good thing I have to say is that the shower was nice.

Very good

Liked: The location was perfect to visit The Strand area of Galveston. One parking spot was included with the room and you can walk to all the shops and restaurants. The room was clean and the A/C was cold. It was quiet in and around The Oleander the night we stayed.
Disliked: The bathroom was clean and the shower looked wonderful. It was big and had the choice of rainfall or handheld attachment. Unfortunately, the temperature of the shower could not even be described as lukewarm, it was too chilly for me!

Really cute place if you...

Liked: The style of the room was great. I appreciated the nice bathroom & the luxury of having a frig provided. It was also located in a nice quiet part of Galveston with a small business area a block away. I enjoyed being able to walk to get dinner.
Disliked: I hesitate to book vacation lodging without on-site staff. But the style was great & it had great reviews, so I booked. Unfortunately, I had cold water to shower with two of three days. I texted the owner & when I checked out the owner said "hope that you had a great evening" I let them know that I did not have a hot shower. The response was "Hhuumm, will check that out Haven't had that complaint" I indicated that I had texted the day before. Response: "I'mmmm so sorry!!!!! I wish you would have messaged again" Uh, when I am a paying customer, I expect issues to be handled. Staffed locations are better.

Nice overnight stay.

Liked: Close to cruise pier. Nice clean room. Could walk to restaurants.
Disliked: Not as close to pier as we hoped. Had to take uber. Front door difficult.
