The Spotlight on The Old School B&B

A Charming Countryside Retreat Close to the Music

Nestled in the scenic village of Westhampnett near Chichester, The Old School B&B offers a peaceful escape with a rustic charm. Set in a lovingly restored historic schoolhouse, this eco-conscious bed and breakfast is surrounded by lush gardens and countryside views. Just a short drive from Chichester’s music venues and the iconic Goodwood Estate, it’s an ideal base for concert-goers looking to unwind in style after a show.
Guests enjoy free Wi-Fi, private parking, and cozy rooms with private bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, and thoughtful extras like a fridge and kettle. The property also features a shared lounge, outdoor fireplace, and a sunny terrace for laid-back afternoons.

Why Concert-goers love it

Whether you're heading to a gig at Goodwood or catching a show in Chichester, this B&B is conveniently located just a few miles from the action. After the music winds down, return to a quiet, countryside atmosphere perfect for recharging. While there’s no 24-hour transport, those with a car will find the free parking a major plus. The later 16:00 check-in gives you time to settle in before heading out for the night.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends planning a concert weekend with a relaxed vibe
- Solo travelers looking for a cozy, safe stay near live music
- Couples wanting a romantic base after a night out
- Fans who need a peaceful spot to rest post-concert
- Budget-conscious music lovers who want comfort without the city noise

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, the B&B serves a hearty breakfast — a welcome treat after a late night. Chichester’s pubs and restaurants are just a short drive away, or enjoy your own snacks using the in-room fridge and kettle. The peaceful garden setting is perfect for a picnic.

Nightlife Options

This isn’t a party hotel, but that’s part of its charm. For those who want to explore Chichester's nightlife, local pubs and live music spots are within easy reach by car. Afterward, come back to the serene setting for a restful night.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly hosts, immaculate rooms, and delicious breakfast. Reviewers often highlight the peaceful location and the B&B’s lovely garden as top perks. Many say it’s a “home away from home” — especially appreciated after a busy evening out.

Areas for Improvement

This spot isn’t ideal if you're relying on public transport or looking for 24/7 buzz. The check-out time of 10:30 might feel early after a late gig, and some may miss having a bar on-site. But the tranquility more than makes up for it.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want a peaceful, charming place to stay near Chichester’s venues, The Old School B&B hits all the right notes.

Exquisite soothing retreat delicious breakfast...

Liked: Exquisite bespoke retreat. Peter's interior design talent shines through, his attention to detail, stylish clever choice of colour. The moment you step into the lovely conservatory filled with interesting plants you feel at home. This seamlessly blends with the tranquil English country garden filled with soothing layers, to rest your eyes upon. We ate our mid- summer breakfast cocooned amongst the plants, sun on our faces the sound of the pond and scent of the June roses setting us up for the day. The breakfast is indulgent , sheer quality with a great selection to suit any taste . I had a freshly prepared fruit salad with yogurt followed by eggs Florentine. Not forgetting the sourdough with lashings of David's homemade rhubarb and ginger jam. My well travelled husband commenting that this was the best Full English ever. Attention to detail is boundless , the crockery ( beautiful

Absolutely splendid.

Liked: The Old School is just a super place. It is spotlessly clean and superbly maintained, beautifully decorated and finished and very comfortable. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful and the breakfast very good. Unfortunately it was raining when I stayed but the garden looked very pleasant. The rooms are very well supplied and the bed was very comfortable. Highly recommended.
