Cosy and homely

Liked: Great atmosphere in the very cosy and homely bar, which has a good selection of real ales and well stocked spirit shelves. Clean comfortable and quiet rooms. Good restaurants nearby.

Disliked: There does not appear to be any staff available between 11.00 - 15.00. Once checked in you need to access the house through a back door until 15.00. This makes you feel you are in a B&B not a hotel.Two rooms in our stay hung the “please service’ outside the rooms at 11.00 am. We returned at 16.00 and the rooms had not been serviced, we had to ask for more coffee & milk, shower gel etc.There was a thick accumulation of dust behind the bed in room 5, generally the rooms are tired and dusty. Window frames are peeling and old. Light bulb not working.The rooms smelt musty and ‘damp’ on arrival, perhaps they had not been used for a while?

Liked: The pub was really nice in the evening. Breakfast was great - a good choice and excellent produce.
Disliked: The room was a bit basic / old fashioned. Bathroom was modern though.
