Rooms ideal for a couple...

Liked: We have stayed here four times and this time it has been under new management. The place has gone downhill. Although the rooms are still fine (albeit a little rough around the edges) this is thanks to the lovely lady who cleans them. The breakfast was substandard (full English) and the dinner menu was mediocre, we actually ate down the road the second night. The whole place is sadly going downhill.
Disliked: Covered above!

Exceptional

Well-priced and comfortable room for...

Liked: Very clean accommodation, room nicely furnished, bed was very comfortable, plenty of tea and coffee supplies in room, large car park.
Disliked: Was given the wrong start time for breakfast when I checked in, so was 30 minutes early :-)

Good

Really good, location was good...

Liked: Staff were really friendly , food was good, facilities were good
Disliked: WIFI in the accommodation didn't work , ended up sat in the bar with laptop out a lot of the time

Disliked: Check out time no towels in room but were put in on requesy

Great stay, good value.

Liked: Lovely place nice clean room plenty of space. Bonus there was a singer the night we stayed.Breakfast was a bonus and very nice.
Disliked: The bed was a bit firm, but my partner liked it, personal preference, not a moan. Maybe some more pillows.

Disappointed

Liked: Lovely room. Comfortable beds
Disliked: Used to stay here regularly while visiting my son at Uni. So came back as a stop over on a long drive with my 90 year old mum..We did not find the staff as welcoming as they used to be. Room facilities excellent but stay overnight was spoilt by the fire alarm constantly going off. Twice when we first got into the room. After the first time we didn't go out for the fire meet up area. Then it went off twice while we were eating in the evening. We asked the staff if this was likely to go on at night and were told I don't know it does this when it gets hot.I also asked if it would as at all possible for my mum to just have a sandwich and chips but as it was gone a certain time I was told by the lady serving that she wouldn't even ask the chef because she knew what the answer would be.Went to bed and the alarm then went off roughly every twenty minutes or so to around midnight.You couldn't get to sleep through the noise and then couldn't as you were mentally expecting it, so not a great nights sleep.Spoke to a guy next morning who was as only a contractor working there, but he came back and said he'd reported it to the guy upstairs who said why didnt she complain last night.Breakfasts were a full cooked english and I had originally been going to ask if mum could just have toast but after the previous nights response we d cided to go elsewhere.I handed the keys back in to the bar and there was noone there to talk to. As I came out I spoke to a chap who said he worked there and I said what a bad night we'd had and they need to get the system looked at. Not just for us but for safety's sake. He said it was one of those things. Didnt apologise, offer a partial refund or anything.Such a shame. Apparently the place had been taken over by a different company since we used to go. I felt the staff didnt really care.
