Beautiful rooms full of everything you could need and with plenty of character. Helpful and friendly staff; great food and excellent location for Colchester Station and town. Would definitely recommend to anyone and would absolutely stay there again if in the area.
Liked: Well furnished and equipped.

A comfortable, friendly place to...
Liked: The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was a double and fine for me as a single person, maybe a bit small for a couple especially the bathroom which was tight. There was no extractor fan that I could find, so the bedroom steamed up if door left open which it had to be otherwise the bathroom would be too hot with the shower running. I opened the bedroom window to compensate a little. The breakfast was excellent. Very fresh, obviously locally sourced produce. Unfortunately, I had to eat a smaller amount on my last morning because I had eaten with friends in the hotel's Green Room the evening before and rather over indulged on the superb fare. The location in the town centre is great for being in the heart of everything, such as for myself who had some business to conduct during my brief stay.
Disliked: Only the bathroom issue as mentioned above. The room was on the top floor so a few stairs to climb, which was fine for me but could be a little taxing for those who find climbing stairs a problem for some reason. Street can be noisy during the day as my room faced the front of a busy road and being next door to a college, but fine at night even with the window open slightly for fresh air. Ear plugs supplied for very light sleepers. Nice touch!

Room very good, clean, good...
Liked: The quality of the meat used was very good, and it was a good size breakfast. location was really good for getting onto town and for other restaurants. We parked at the NPC car park near the hotel which was convenient was 12.00 24 hours but you can get discount if you download the park app and remember to scan instead of taking a ticket.
Disliked: Pillows on the bed where not plump.

Liked: We only stayed for two nights to attend a party on the second and the hotel was suitable for this purpose. It is located next to the town centre so ideal for getting around. We had a warm welcome when we arrived and found our room comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and always served with a smile, I cannot fault the service at all. Parking can be a little bit tricky, we ended up using the ncp car park which did add up but this is no fault of the hotel.
Disliked: Unfortunately, on our first night we were woken around 3am by another couple in one of the rooms either next to or above us, and we could hear clearly everything that they were saying, and they went on for a while. It may have just been our room, but the walls seem paper thin. However, the hotel does provide earplugs which my partner did use and even he was woken by the noise. Thankfully on the second night we had a better night's sleep.
