Beautiful rooms full of everything you could need and with plenty of character. Helpful and friendly staff; great food and excellent location for Colchester Station and town. Would definitely recommend to anyone and would absolutely stay there again if in the area.

Liked: Well furnished and equipped.

Comfortable in pleasant surroundings

Liked: Very clean and staff were very pleasant, plenty eateries only a 5 minute walk away. Room cosy and comfortable, very clean, basic tea & coffee facilities. Staff very helpful and friendly and is a good laugh too.
Disliked: A little street noise but that’s to be expected but they do supply ear plugs.

Overall a great stay for...

Liked: It’s in a great location and the rooms are great. The staff are also so friendly and helpful. Really good value for what it was too.
Disliked: It was very hot in the room. It was a warm day and evening and there was a fan provided but it was still very warm.

Characterful boutique hotel with lovely...

Liked: My sister and I were attending a concert at nearby Colchester Castle Park and booked the hotel for one night. Location was ideal; just a 10 minutes walk to the park. The hotel is old and full of character and our room was gorgeous - full of wood, exposed brickwork and an old fireplace. The staff were very friendly and the bar area looked lovely - not that we used it. There were plenty of towels provided and also toiletries and I spotted an iron. There was a kettle and coffee maker in the room too. The room and en-suite shower room was clean and the beds were very comfortable.
Disliked: The only negative - which stopped me from giving an ‘excellent’ score overall was that neither of us slept very well. We kept hearing noises that sounded like our door being opened but was obviously doors from other rooms there. The lack of parking was also a small niggle. There is an NCP car park close by but they are expensive. As it was a Sunday we parked in a loading bay outside the hotel which was great but meant that we had to leave before 8 a.m on the Monday morning when restrictions started.
