The North Hill Hotel

Beautiful rooms full of everything you could need and with plenty of character. Helpful and friendly staff; great food and excellent location for Colchester Station and town. Would definitely recommend to anyone and would absolutely stay there again if in the area.

Very happy with hotel and...

Liked: extremely friendly, helpful staff. Any queries dealt with with a smile. Bed very comfortable, shower very powerful. Bathroom much larger than the usual addition in the corner of a room. Excellent value for money. Really handy for seeing Colchester, particularly if you don't have a car.
Disliked: Housekeeping could be improved. My room was barely touched the first day (I had put out Please Clean notice), and tea and biscuits were not replenished. However, the next day, after I had mentioned this to staff, room was sparkling and tea and biscuits ready for me!

Disliked: Very very noisy. Constant floor board creaking, a fan or something that made a loud whirring sound frequently. They should supply ear plugs, yes it’s that bad in room 7

Liked: This is value for money. A very warm welcome, very helpful staff and whilst basic accommodation, very clean, quiet, central and well kept.
Disliked: It's an old building so noise travels!

Enjoyable up until the point...

Liked: Room was very nice, thanks to the upgrade we received. Unfortunately other guests were very loud at 2 am. Also, it sounded like someone tried our door around midnight, this scared my wife who then couldn’t sleep.
