An enjoyable stay in an...

Liked: My room was on the first floor overlooking Northgate. There were crowds of shoppers and a few noisy people walking past during the day, but it was still enjoyable to people watch as they wandered by. At night, the street was deserted. The hotel is in the middle of Gloucester and well placed for the Cathedral and other historical sites. The hotel itself is a galleried coaching inn and is a truly splendid building in tis own right. I stayed in Gloucester for the one night. I went sighting-seeing during my frirst day there and on the second day caught a bus (40 minutes) to Cheltenham for another day's sight-seeing there before returning home.
Disliked: I stayed on a Monday night. The bar in the hotel was a little deserted which was a shame, but I suppose many bars are on Mondays.

Disliked: Everything about the place was fine for me

Great building right in the...

Liked: The property was lovely and right in the centre and rooms were good value for money. Staff were lovely and very friendly.
Disliked: Too noisy woke up a few times by drunk people and the shower was either far too hot or too cold

Very central and adequate facilities...

Liked: Room was quiet, though fellow guests were unable to sleep as they were facing either the street or the courtyard
Disliked: Volume of music (including music put on after midnight only for the benefit of the staff who were tidying up). I had intended to eat in the hotel but it would have been impossible to have a quiet conversation with fellow guests.

Good

Liked: Excellent location, friendly staff, good food. Historical Building. Clean and tidy room with a huge bathroom.
Disliked: Recently taken over and this grade 1 listed building is needing some TLC it's 600 year old and well worn, clean and tidy but don't expect a palace.

Noisy, smelly and poorly serviced

We had to move but...

Liked: We had to move as beds too old. But helpful staff got us into new refurb rooms. New inn will be refurb and it needs it
Disliked: The beds. The old wall paper and very dated furniture. It’s not fit for purpose. But is being upgraded

Enjoyable stay with lovely comfortable...

Liked: 15th century inn which was full of character with beams and bedrooms set off gallery court yard. Wonderful friendly staffLovely breakfast and exceptional value. Cooked to order so nice and fresh and tasty
Disliked: Nothing to dislike and is just as expected of an old building

Liked: The chilled atmosphere and cool people.
