Ideal for a short stay...

Liked: The location was excellent for those visiting Times Sq and local attractions. The staff were friendly and accomodating. Room size was good and quite for the location. Bathroom large and clean. Wife and daughter enjoyed the dressing table when getting ready and the large mirror.
Disliked: My daughter slept on a sofa bed. The mattress was very uncomfortable. Room prices for all NYC hotels are way too high. We would come more often if they were cheaper but cant justify it at these prices.

Wonderful home base for Broadway...

Liked: This is my 3rd stay here and, as always, the staff is wonderful and the cleanliness is top notch. I use this hotel as a home base to mostly see Broadway shows, so the location couldn't be better. The beds are comfortable and I appreciate the in-room safe and fridge, both of which are essential for me. A keurig machine was brought to my room when requested, which this caffeine addict greatly appreciated. When I stored my bag before and after check-in, the staff was responsive and quick to retrieve my bag. That's not to be taken for granted, imo, I once stayed at a place where it took over half an hour to have our bags returned to us and if you've got a train or plane to catch, that is a problem.
Disliked: I wish there were coffee machines in the room by default. They used to serve complimentary coffee in the mornings, but this time I was asked to go to the breakfast area and pay. I understand that they've done some renovating and now serve breakfast (looked like mostly pastries), so I guess it makes sense, but I still wish I had known. Luckily, a lovely young woman at the front desk offered to have a keurig machine brought to my room, so that was perfect. There was something happening when I arrived on a Thursday. Previously, I've been able to check in early, but this time, my room wasn't ready until about 30 minutes after check-in time. And the lobby was full of people waiting to check-in. But this could've been something completely out of the control of the staff, but it was a pain as I was eager to clean up after a long morning of travel.

Tired in NYC.

Liked: pleasant attentive staff.
Disliked: Room HVAC very loud - little sleep.

Liked: Close proximity to Broadway, Subway Stations, Central Park, Restaurants, Shopping, etc..
Disliked: Only comment, restroom needs fans.

Superb

Perfect location, great room

Liked: Perfect location, great big room and comfortable bed. All we need. Very nice and we will visit the hotel again. I booked it already twice, since the price and the location were good.
Disliked: The lounge area could be made a bit more comfortable and the coffee could be better. But there are a lot of coffee shops just around the corner.

Broken AC, broken sink, no...

Liked: Location was great but I believe there are much better places than this old hotel
Disliked: First night AC of one the rooms 1505 was not working and drain plug of the bathroom sink was broken, water was not going down. Hotel technician came to check and told us it can not be repaired and asked for room change. Hotel manager told us that they are fully booked for that night and they can change it next day, which they did. Hotel manager told us to contact with you for one night compensation since I have already prepaid through third party. Despite following up multiple times, no one has bothered to reply or offer the promised compensation.
