The Mount Rooms

Loud and disappointing.

Liked: Check in was easy, the towels were nice. Shower was nice and hot and had good pressure.
Disliked: You could feel the springs A LOT on our daughters bed, to the point we had to request an extra double duvet to fold in half and lay under her. She was happy with this but I would not have been as an adult. You could also feel the springs on the double bed but not as bad as the single. Volume of 'Boozy Bingo'. At check-in we were advised that the hotel would be noisy due to boozy bingo that evening, when I looked less than impressed (staying for one night whilst pregnant and with a 4 and 6 year old) the receptionist informed me that this was clearly highlighted on the website, however as we had booked through booking.com, we had no notification of this. We were moved to a family room 'on the other side', however this too was unacceptably loud and boozy bingo kept us awake until aprox 1.30am!!! We had gone out for a family event and returned aprox 9.30pm, there was a rabble of drunk people smoking on the front steps which I had to try and push through with my children to get into the hotel through the main entrance. With these people calling out and trying to talk to my children this caused quite a bit of distress. When raising our issues re boozy bingo with the front desk the following morning, the receptionist stated that they usually get a few complaints from guests about this event clearly showing that they are not doing enough to warn guests!!Communication: I booked a family room but received confirmation for a double. I emailed to request clear confirmation of our family room however received nothing back from the hotel. I rang the front desk a days prior to our visit to follow-up on this (rather last minute) booking, the room was confirmed however at no point did anyone notify me of boozy bingo despite me clearly telling them that I had booked via booking.com and that I was travelling with children.

Liked: All was well with our stay. It was cheap and cheerful. Nice bar with a good selection of drinks. Attentive staff and our room was clean.

Ideal for a weekend, but...

Liked: Good location, only a short walk to the beach front although it’s down a steep hill so keep that in mind for when you have to head back! The room was clean and a good size, and the staff were lovely.
Disliked: No toiletries provided, No hairdryer and although the room was a good size it felt empty.. the double bed was smaller than standard and there were no lamps or plugs next to the bed.

Suited us fine for one...

Liked: Staff great and friendly, room satisfactory and clean, bed very comfortable
Disliked: Shower was rather cold, would like sockets near the bed, and room was very hot.Noise from downstairs - but we had been warned of this beforehand
