Hotel needs gutting, staff were...

Liked: Convenient area for visiting family. Lovely view from car park and restaurant
Disliked: No plug on bathroom sink just a screw, no button on toilet flush just a screw. Very poor lighting in bathroom, several double glazed windows with condensation in them so couldn’t see out. Peeling wallpaper, filth inside radiator in restaurant, stains on carpets. £87 stay way overpriced for a building that needs gutting.

Liked: Food was excellent.
Disliked: Room decoration and facilities were tired. Carpet had stains, wall paper peeling and damp marks, bathroom fittings rusty and mouldy around bath, bed frame falling apart.

Poor

Liked: In over four Decades I've been here for Drinks with a friend, attended 3 Wedding Receptions, afternoon get together, met up with people, known staff members too. I have stayed here overnight previously. The Moor location is convenient.
Disliked: Booked a particular table for an Evening meal in the morning of the day of this meal, time also confirmed. Didn't eat during the day ,so as to enjoy this meal. Confirmed again once more 20 minutes before coming down for meal with Reception staff member 👍. Came down just before organised time of meal, he prioritised another couple the table and said ' CAN you come back at 7, half an hours time?' I had planned on staying here in future, though due to being not worthy of my pre-arranged meal booking, have chosen now to avoid The Moorland.

Perfect quiet get away between...

Liked: The location is absolutely amazing! Near the national park, surrounded by animals and nature. The people who work there were exceptionally kind. From the lady who cleans to the receptionist and restaurant staff. Everyday I was greeted with a smile and pure kindness. The beds were comfortable and we had a balcony looking over the nature, city and the sea. The roads behind the hotel are gorgeous! We have had a Sunday Roast in the restaurant. It was great and the service was great aswell. The location is quiet and peaceful.
Disliked: Just a heads up, these were minor things. I wish that we had a fridge in the room and seeming its a very old building, it can get very loud in the morning. Someone was doing something with the chairs and tables i suppose, on the patio at 8 in the morning and it was incredibly disturbing. So bring your earplugs and you’ll be fine because the location overall is perfect!

Would give 6.5, I wouldn't...

Liked: Lovely location, staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was a decent enough size and the bed was reasonably comfortable and the sink looked new. The breakfast was nice. Restaurant seems to have been done up and there's a pool table. The supplied soaps were lovely. plenty of space to park.
Disliked: Place does need some tlc, wallpaper peeling off, my rooms main light didn't work but luckily the 2 lamps gave plenty of light. Was quite a bit of dust and some cobwebs. Walls were quite thin, shower door struggled to close, car park is rather bumpy and horrible to turn out of because you can't see what's coming. I did lock my door when I went out after the first night and when I got back the door was ajar and unlocked, luckily nothing was taken but I'm assuming housekeeping had gone in and not locked it afterwards? I think for the price you pay could probably include cereal or something with it but that's me being really picky.

Excellent value for money, great...

Liked: Great for Dartmoor and surrounding areas the staff are wonderful and do anything to ensure a good stay. Food is superb, I cannot fault this hotel in any major way. Very dog friendly. Excellent value for money - I won’t go anywhere else!
Disliked: Nothing. OK it’s a little ‘tatty round the edges’ but slowly it is being improved. A light bulb or two missing, bathroom a little too dark… but that’s all!
