A little peaceful heaven

Liked: The garden is amazing, the new garden rooms are spacious and beautiful. The staff is lovely.
Disliked: The Monty's restaurant/pub is not up to the standard of the hotel. It is really the negative of our stay. Everything else is so perfect. The hotel deserves a cozy restaurant with good food and nice pub. I know there is the Terrace restaurant. But the Monty's is cold, there is a strong smell (from a candle or interior perfume) which is not enjoyable, and unfortunately the food is not very good. With simple but good food, and a cozy interior at Monty's, this would have been the absolute perfect stay.

Liked: We love the staff. The location to enjoy the New Forest is excellent. We have visited many times over the last 15 years and will always come back.
Disliked: Pricey. The get what you pay for mantra has put pressure on everyone. I don’t think this establishment is any worse than others. Make sure you don’t go if a wedding is on.

Wonderful stay

Liked: The staff were exceptional, all of them. The location was great, walked to Bucklers hard from hotel. Grounds were so well kept and a lovely area to sit out. The room was warm and bed was comfy. It had a lovely ambience about the whole place.
Disliked: That I couldn't stay longer

Liked: Stayed in the lovely courtyard room’s beautiful. Lovely gardens and gardener
Disliked: Charging for full English Breakfast should have been included I think.Always seems like a little background music needed in the main house to improve atmosphere

Liked: Staff were very friendly & helpful- some of the nicest I have know in a hotel.Excellent breakfast although surprised had to pay extra for the cooked element.Good location for our weekend away.We chose the hotel as it had parking which was good .
Disliked: Hotel a little shabby in areas ie carpet on stairs thread bare in places .Carpet in bedroom old .One of our rooms advertised as a 4 poster bedroom but was not & seemed bit shabby & thrown together as no furniture was matching & definitely no 4 poster bed .Requested rooms close together but they could not have been more further apart .Our room was in the hotel & the other in the top of the pub next door .
