A nice stay but just...

Liked: The views are beautiful and it's very peaceful in the outdoor spaces. The dinner menu in the restaurant was tasty and reasonably priced.
Disliked: It needs a good refurbishment throughout. The manor house actually has quite strange feel. It isn't grand or cosy. It's eery and lacks character with unhelpful signs everywhere. It has a bar/restaurant in the cellar which is quite a faff to find from the other accommodation around the grounds. They're missing a huge trick with the leisure area. There is nothing wrong with children enjoying themselves, but there is no 'spa like' experience on offer for adults. There is so much space they should really consider creating a cool children's pool and then make the spa area calm with beautiful decor. The outdoor pool is tiny and only allows 12 people, and opens until 4pm, which is mad in the summer holidays. This, of course, means families head to the indoor pool. Staff weren't attentive or bothered when answering any questions and were quite slow in the restaurant at breakfast. Breakfast was bland and long-winded.

Exceptional

Lovely, short overnight stay, but...

Liked: We last stayed at the hotel about 9-10 years ago and we unaware of the changes that had taken place in the meantime. The venue is now very much focused on being a family activity centre, which was unexpected but not a disaster. Our room was in the Manor House, which was much the same as previous and had still retained its former charm and elegance. Our room was lovely, clean and quiet. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was very good, nicely presented and the breakfast was 1st rate. The grounds were well looked after and tidy. Nice to walk around. There is a lovely, relaxing atmosphere up by the Manor House, down by the Hub was of course noisy and manic, which is mainly where the families hung out, so we had no need to go there.
Disliked: The exterior of the Manor House could do with a face lift, window sills were in a dreadful state, which made it look tired. The lounge areas weren't particularly clean, as there were dead flies and cobwebs around. We arrived around 5pm and were told that the outdoor pool had closed at 4pm and that the indoor pool closed at 6pm, which left no time at all really for us to use the facilities. Both closing times seemed very early, considering that it is the height of the season and the weather is brilliant.

Great location, good for families...

Disliked: Breakfast and food in general was quite poor. One of our room smelled of stale food as it was near the kitchens

Relaxing stay

Liked: The site was lovely, facilities were good. The lodges are done are beautifully and the bathrooms and en-suites were lovely. Hot tub was lovely.
Disliked: The lodges were semi detached and you could hear the neighbours through very loudly which was a shame. Also it was quite a drive to get to the beaches, at least 45 mins
