Steve N, Manchester, visiting Band on the Wall Manchester Sun, 18 December 2016

There's no point, really. If the hotel management cannot see that offering a room so bad in 2016 is utterly unacceptable then they truly are in the wrong business. Where are the Council's Trading Standards Department when you need them? Damp stains on the ceiling; a mattress from the 1970s; half a smoke alarm; mould in the bathroom; cigarettes extinguished on the side of the bath; worn out MFI furniture. Er, that's enough now...

Liked: It's in a great location... but that really is it.
Disliked: Too much to bother typing it all out...

I would definitely stay again and so would my friend; the staff in the hotel part were very friendly and helpful, but in the bar area where we ordered a Valentine's meal it took over an hour to get the meal and then they got the order wrong - but in the end we got what we asked for, although late. I kept having to go to the bar to see where our food was and we were going to an event at the arena. The hotel is in the centre and only 15 minute walk to the arena and bars - it has a good atmosphere and everyone is friendly.

Liked: Overall the staff on reception were very helpful and friendly.
Disliked: Service for a meal in the restaurant.

Okay

Liked: Staff were really friendly and helpful when checking in and out and screens and hand sanitizer in reception. Room seemed clean and really good shower. Also a really great location, right in the centre of town and really handy.
Disliked: Few improvements could me made to the furniture/decor - the slats in one of the beds kept dislodging and one of the blinds fell down in the night. Would also have been handy to have a bedside table in the room. Quite a lot of noise at night from other guests running up and down the corridors but not sure how this could be avoided. There was also Rentokil under one of the beds which was a bit concerning!

Uncomfortable

Liked: We stayed as out anniversary had to be cancelled die to covid. We usually contact the hotel n request a room and every year this has been done except this year even though the room was empty. We also weren't told that there wasn't any cooked breakfast so continental provided. I'm not being a crouch when I say two toast a bowl of cereal n croissant cost us 7 each. Nice to have had an email prior to confirm. Been going for years but this will be our last stay for sure. Uncomfortable beds kept rolling out to the side. Always loved this hotel but I think management has changed which has also changed the standard of stay and customer service. Sorru but after 9 years we have stayed for our last stay.

Disliked: A bin was not emptied when we got there, the beds you couldn?t move without loud squeaking and could hear anyone walking past.

Ok

Liked: We were only offered continental breakfast
Disliked: I booked a delux room, and I thought it was very basic . There was no wardrobes to hang any of our clothes, the kettle , tea , coffee etc were on two skinny shelves, and there were no plugs in that location to boil the kettle , there was no dressing table or anything to put your stuff on. Also the bathroom was awful there was no where to put your toiletries very basic sink toilet and the smallest of showers , and when you were in it it?s turns it?s self off every 15 seconds , ridiculous very disappointed.
