The Spotlight on The Millcroft Hotel

Seaside Comfort in the Scottish Highlands

Modern comfort meets coastal charm at The Millcroft Hotel, a laid-back 3-star retreat located in the scenic village of Gairloch. Overlooking the sea and just a short drive from local music spots and community events, it's the perfect base for concert-goers looking to blend Highland tranquility with live music energy. With free WiFi, free parking, and warm hospitality, you’ll feel right at home.

Why Concert-goers love it

After a night of live music in nearby towns like Ullapool or local Gairloch venues, The Millcroft offers a quiet, scenic place to unwind. Most rooms come with sea views—ideal for a relaxed morning after a late night. Check-in starts at 16:00 and while check-out is at 10:30, the peaceful setting makes every moment feel unhurried. Plus, with free parking and local taxi services, getting around is easy—even after hours.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends who want a cozy base near the coast
Solo travelers checking off a bucket-list Highland gig
Couples making a weekend escape of it
Fans seeking quiet recovery after a night of music
Budget-conscious music lovers looking for value and views

Food and Drink Options

The on-site restaurant serves up local Highland cuisine, and during winter months, a reduced but tasty bar menu keeps things simple. Wake up to a hearty full Scottish or continental breakfast—perfect for recovering from a long night. While there's no 24/7 room service, the friendly staff are always happy to help. Local eateries are within a short drive for variety.

Nightlife Options

While The Millcroft itself is more about relaxing than raving, the on-site bar is a cozy spot for a nightcap. For more excitement, nearby towns like Ullapool (just 23 miles away) sometimes host live music events, and local pubs offer an authentic Highland night out.

What People Say

Guests love the sea views, peaceful setting, and friendly staff. Many mention the clean, comfortable rooms and the quality of the breakfast. It’s especially praised for being a great place to recharge after exploring or attending events in the region.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the hotel is a bit remote, so having a car is useful. Also, in the winter months, the dining options are more limited—but still delicious. And while the check-out time is standard, a later option would be welcome for post-concert sleep-ins.

The Bottom Line

For music lovers seeking a quiet, scenic, and affordable stay near Highland venues, The Millcroft Hotel is a perfect post-show retreat.

A good central position, great...

Liked: Staff were very helpful and attentive. Loved the restaurant and bar. Had only planned to have a main course but we were tempted by the starter menu, and even though we were really full, we went on to share a dessert too.
Disliked: The room décor was a bit tired but comfortable enough.

2 days in Gairloch.

Liked: One part of the staff is very nice. The location was perfect for me. Food was good. Nice view.
Disliked: Cold bathroom (the heater starts probably to late). Breakfast starts at 08h00 only. The lovely dinner room has leaking windows which make it cold when strong wind (an easy fix!). My bedroom (n°5) was quite small with some technical trouble with the main heater and the toilet.

Great place to stay at...

Liked: Our rooms were large, spacious, clean and with STUNNING views. It was a truly beautiful location to stay at. The photos are the views from the bedroom and lounge windows. The staff were extremely pleasant, polite and helpful. I couldn’t have asked for better service. There was on site parking at the property which could fill up but even if it did there was plenty of free street parking and the village was such a lovely quiet place that I think you could park anywhere and your car however expensive it may be would be perfectly safe.Highly recommended and thank you again to the staff for making us so welcome.
Disliked: There was nothing not to like.

Exceptional

Liked: Hotel was not busy when I was there, so got an complimentary upgrade to the most beautiful room with an astonishing view of the water and all the way to the Isle of Skye. Loved everything about the room, bed was comfortable, chairs to watch the sunset were excellently placed right at the windows. Breakfast was great, good options and big portions. Also enjoyed the food in the pub, can only recommend!

Ideal NC500 stopover

Liked: The staff were superb, very easy and hospitable. The location is lovely, although services nearby limited. The hotel is in need of a bit of updating in places, and hot water ran out for my wife’s shower. But overall a lovely experience.
Disliked: Just a bit tired in places
