The Mill Hotel

This is not a cheap...

Liked: The position is excellent, and the ground floor rooms are perfect for me.
Disliked: The last time I stayed at the mill at the end of June. There was only cold water all weekend and they have still not responded to my complaint. Even after three phone calls and one email. The breakfast was not good and the service at breakfast was limited with one chap trying to help. There was not a lot of fruit and no milk.This last weekend, when I stayed there, the cold tap in the bath was dripping the whole time and the remote for the TV needed new batteries. To be fair the receptionist came with some new batteries .

It’s basic, but could be...

Liked: Very well located. Friendly staff.
Disliked: Cleanliness of the rooms, especially the bathroom, carpeted floors and walls (full of cobwebs and dust). Breakfast is poor for what you pay.

Good

Liked: 10 minute walk to town centre. Breakfast, and staff at breakfast were good. Off street private parking.
Disliked: Room was in eaves so easy to knock head getting out of bed or using bathroom. No air con. Stayed in "cottage" by the car park - dog ends & other debris littering the ground by the outside door.

Exceptional

A pleasant stay providing everything...

Liked: The room was a good size, bright, with windows on two sides and a view over the mill water outlet into the mill stream. The furniture was highly suitable for a couple with two suitcases. It was not quite as sumptuous as the furniture in the smaller rooms on the higher floor, but comfortable and just right for our needs. The supplies of coffee and tea were generous and the shower gels helpful. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The staff we encountered were very polite and helpful, though it was difficult to get attention at the bar with only one person covering many areas.
Disliked: I think the bathroom window needs a curtain of some kind. The slightly frosted glass does not give much privacy, especially when sitting in full sunlight!

Disliked: Beds were hard over priced with no air conditioning

Liked: The view from our bedroom overlooking the meadows.
Disliked: We had a room in the annex which was below the standard we would expect. The staff dealt with the situation very well and we really enjoyed the stay.
