The Spotlight on The Metric - Los Angeles Downtown

Modern Comfort in the Heart of Downtown LA

At The Metric - Los Angeles Downtown, sleek design meets convenience in a stylish 3-star setting. Opened in 2021, this fresh and modern hotel places you in a prime location just 1.6 miles from the Microsoft Theater and Staples Center. Whether you're catching a late-night show or exploring the city, you'll love the clean lines, smart amenities, and central vibe.

Rooms come equipped with air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, fridges, and electric kettles, while fast free WiFi keeps you connected. Private parking is available for a fee, and the hotel’s sleek, minimal décor makes it feel like a calm oasis in a bustling city.

Why Concert-goers love it

Music lovers appreciate this hotel's central location—just a short ride to major venues like the Staples Center and Microsoft Theater. Despite being in the middle of the action, The Metric offers a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere for post-show wind-downs. With a 3 PM check-in and 11 AM checkout, there’s enough flexibility to suit most schedules. Plus, it’s easy to grab a late-night ride share or hop on a nearby public transit route.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a sleek base near downtown venues
  • Solo travelers on a music pilgrimage
  • Couples planning a weekend concert getaway
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space
  • Budget-conscious music fans who still want modern style

Food and Drink Options

While The Metric doesn’t have its own restaurant or bar, its central location puts you steps away from a wide range of eateries that stay open late. Grab tacos at a nearby food truck, or hit one of the late-night diners just a short walk away. Many guests also appreciate the in-room fridge and electric kettle for midnight snacks or morning tea after a night out.

Nightlife Options

You're in downtown LA—nightlife is never far. From rooftop bars to cozy lounges, the area is packed with options for pre-show drinks or post-concert vibes. While there’s no on-site bar, you'll be just minutes from some of the city's most talked-about nightlife scenes.

What People Say

Guests rave about the cleanliness and modern design of The Metric, often noting the excellent value for money. The staff is frequently praised for being friendly and helpful, and many reviewers highlight the quiet atmosphere despite the busy location. Travelers also love the easy access to major LA destinations.

Areas for Improvement

The biggest downside? No on-site restaurant or bar, which might be a letdown for those looking to hang out without leaving the hotel. Parking is available, but it comes with an additional charge. Also, while stylish, the minimalist design may not suit travelers looking for extra creature comforts.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to LA for a concert and want a stylish, centrally located hotel that offers peace and quiet after the show, The Metric - Los Angeles Downtown delivers.

Perfect spot for shows in...

Liked: The room was perfect to crash out after a show and they had those beds that feel like sleeping on a cloud. The 8 min walk to the Bellwether was exactly what I was aiming for. The breakfast bakery items were great. Place was clean, pretty and safe.

Wanted to love it, but...

Liked: Bed was comfortable. Front desk staff was nice.
Disliked: Really wanted to love this place, but it was a bit of a creepy experience. Only one person at check-in/lobby and they leave a lot to do other things - so several times phones are just ringing but no one at desk or picking up phone. There is a coffee and water machine in the "lobby area" but no water, tea or coffee available in the room itself. "Lobby area" (sitting area, office style table with chairs and sign with "no outside food allowed") locked at 10pm. Housekeeping every other day. Really expensive for what it is - bed, small desk, 1 chair and small sitting stool.

Clean hotel and rooms and...

Liked: The staff was very helpful once you are there; however, trying to call or get in touch with someone is rather hard, for they prefer electronic communication via automated text it seems. The rooms were clean as was the lobby and hotel itself.
Disliked: Not being able to get in touch with an actual person within the lobby over the phone. I booked through booking.com, so when the hotel sent me a confirmation number via email to access the hotel/room, I never received it and panicked a bit about getting into the hotel if there was no actual front desk person. Thankfully, there was and it all worked out in the end, but it was frustrating nonetheless.
