The Spotlight on The Mercantile Hotel

Stylish Suites in the Heart of New Orleans’ Arts District

Modern and welcoming, The Mercantile Hotel blends urban charm with Southern hospitality. Set in the lively Central Arts Warehouse District, this 3-star boutique spot offers spacious, suite-style rooms with comfy seating areas, private bathrooms, and all the must-haves like air conditioning, free WiFi, and TVs. With a 24-hour front desk and business center, it's a great home base whether you're in town for a concert or a weekend escape.

Just steps from the Morial Convention Center and a short stroll to Bourbon Street, you're right where the music starts—and never really stops.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is key, and The Mercantile nails it. You’re within walking distance of major live music venues, which means less time in transit and more time soaking up the sounds. After a show, the quiet, artsy neighborhood offers a peaceful contrast to the buzz of Bourbon Street. Plus, with a 15:00 check-in and 11:00 check-out, the schedule works well for late-night arrivals and lazy mornings.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends – Large suite-style rooms mean you’ll have space to hang out before or after the show.
  • Solo travelers – Safe, central, and stylish, with a cozy vibe perfect for winding down after a big night out.
  • Couples – The romantic backdrop of New Orleans plus a walkable location makes weekend concert trips extra special.
  • Fans needing downtime – The quiet neighborhood and relaxed lounge areas are ideal for post-concert recovery.
  • Budget-conscious fans – A 3-star gem in a prime location, without breaking the bank.

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, the Warehouse District is full of walkable dining spots, from late-night bites to brunch favorites. The hotel’s lobby lounge serves drinks and light snacks, and morning travelers will appreciate easy access to coffee and breakfast options just around the corner.

Nightlife Options

You’re perfectly placed to explore the city’s legendary nightlife. Bourbon Street’s bars and clubs are just under a mile away, and local lounges and live music joints in the Arts District offer a more laid-back vibe. At the hotel, the lobby lounge is a chill spot to sip something local and plan your next move.

What People Say

Guests rave about the spacious rooms, friendly staff, and unbeatable location. Many mention how convenient it is for walking to both concerts and city attractions. The artsy décor and clean, quiet atmosphere also get frequent praise.

Areas for Improvement

If you’re expecting a full-service restaurant or pool, you won’t find them here. Some guests noted that the hotel could use a few more amenities, and that parking in the area can be pricey—but that’s pretty standard for downtown New Orleans.

The Bottom Line

If you want to be close to the music without the chaos, The Mercantile Hotel is a smart, stylish choice for concert-goers exploring New Orleans.

Overall, a good stay. Would...

Liked: No major complaints.
Disliked: There was a hole in one of the drapes that did not allow for total blockage of outside light. I've stayed in this property before and furnishings were not a problem. Breakfast could have been more appetizing.

Can't recommend this place enough....

Liked: I loved the price, the location, the decor and the cleanliness.
Disliked: The air conditioner kept the room at a reasonable temp. It, however, wouldn't go down to my preferred temp for sleeping. I would've preferred free parking as well but it wasn't a game changer.

All in all, I'd prefer...

Liked: We really enjoyed the fact that there were separate living room/bedroom areas. My 8 yr. old could watch cartoons in bed while mom and I watched something else while having beverages on the couch. All the attractions were a short Uber ride away and affordable overnight parking was within walking distance. The premises were very well kept and always clean.
Disliked: The t.v. in our living room area didn't connect to any services; No local stations, no cable, no streaming. I managed to mirror my phone on it so we could watch Netflix. The fridge and the central A.C. was warm, though a quick call to the front desk got the engineering guys in within minutes to replace the fridge and fix the A.C. Both were cold after that. The coffee maker (the only one I saw) in the breakfast area was a single serve machine that took a few minutes to brew. I'm big on morning coffee, so this was a let down. I wished they had bigger trash cans available on the floors so we could throw away larger items (pizza boxes, etc.).
