Exceptional
Liked: amenities were fantastic from bar, to hot croissants and cookies to bathroom soap! front desk staff was so friendly and had great recommendations. Really easy to hop over to shelter island as the ferry was right by the hotel

Superb
Liked: One of the thing I love most when I stay at a hotel is breakfast. At Menhaden they provided a self serve breakfast in the alley on each floor. It was ok, but the choice is very limited, yogurt, cereals and couple of pastries. If you don't want to have something sweet you have to step out.
Disliked: I would have rather had a real breakfast at the bar downstairs

Stylish design & decor, warm...
Liked: This is a gorgeous, chic boutique hotel. Everything was well executed, from the appearance of the exterior, entry way, and lounge/amenity spaces to the size, cleanliness, and comfort of the guest rooms themselves. We really enjoyed having the so-called "galley" on each guest floor. It's basically a mini kitchen stocked with treats (candies, chips, yogurt and granola, juice, boxed water, San Pellegrino, Coke and Diet Coke in glass bottles, self-serve hot tea and Keurig coffee) that are available all day long. As a bonus, the staff bake off croissants in the morning and warm cookies in the evening and place these in each galley for guests (yum!). There are two hang-out spaces flanking the check-in desk, one is a cafe and market and the other is a bar/lounge. Both were cozy, bright and welcoming. On the top floor there's a rooftop lounge with gas fire pits - great for summer and fall, but too cold in November. The best part of our stay might be the staff, who absolutely went above and beyond to give us recommendations on what to do, where to eat, and how to organize our time to maximize enjoyment. They didn't just hand out a list of attractions but very kindly asked us about our interests to make personalized recommendations. Plus they were super helpful in offering to make dinner reservations and texted us their tips so we didn't have to rely on memory or a scrap of paper. We would absolutely come back to the Menhaden on a future North Fork stay!
Disliked: In the winter months additional blankets might be a plus for cold sleepers
