We were very disappointed with...

Liked: There were no aspects of the hotel, or our stay with which we were satisfied at all.
Disliked: The first impression of the corridors was that the hotel was badly cleaned and maintained. Once we were in the room allocated to us, we found there was no lock mechanism in the bathroom door, only a door knob with no function, so the door could not be closed at all and was ajar at all times. There was no water pressure at all in the bathroom, nor warm water in the shower. If the water ran for 15 minutes, it became slightly warmer but with no water pressure, just a dribble from the shower head. The room lighting was very weak and even with all of the lights turned on, it was not possible to comfortably read, nor pleasant to be in the room. There was only one electrical outlet in the whole room, which in these days of personal electrical appliances, seems a very poor way to offer a service to hotel guests. We stayed in other hotels of a similar category to the Menai Hotel and Bar but have never suffered such poor accommodation.

Passable

Liked: I found it hard to find as there is a one-way system. However, a call to the hotel put me right.
Disliked: As you walk in the entrance there was an unpleasant smell coming from the toilet. The hotel could do with refurbishment. I would not stay here again.

Liked: Lovely breakfast, very friendly staff. Perfect location for the university open day, too.
