The Maypole at Wellow
Liked: Very pleasant staff. The food was very good. We had a mixed grill with homemade chips. Rooms are clean and tidy.
Disliked: We had a room at the front next to the road, and we had the windows open due to being warm a lot of road noise if you had the windows open.

Very good
Liked: The actual placewas friendly clean quiet well catered for with the tea coffee,
Disliked: I would of preferred a full English breakfast instead of a continental, and being right on the road it was very noisy so had a disturbed sleep at too keep the top window open because the rooms were very warm

Okay stay but some concerns.
Liked: It was a good location and the evening meal starter and main course were very good. The dessert was disappointing as an apple crumble should have the apple and the crumble baked together. Instead the apple mixture was placed in a dish and the tasteless crumble mixture dumped on top and remained loose. My friend's Eton Mess was equally disappointing and sparse in quantity.
Disliked: The security worried me. We were given key fobs to our room but also a four digit code (followed by #) just in case the fob did not work. My friend's room fob worked but mine did not. As instructed, I used the code.Concerned about my security, I asked if the code was exclusive to my two rooms booking. I was told it was not as everyone who stays has the same code. I asked the staff on duty how could they be certain that a previous guest does not return to the hotel and use the code to enter our rooms which are located on the ground in front the car park.On the phone, the manager Julie said that would not happen and the codes are refreshed daily. The two staff on duty said they did not know the codes were changed daily.Whilst I accepted Julie's explanation (for ease of bringing the call to and end) I did not believe it because if the code was changed daily, how could the staff, one of whom said he has worked there for two years not know this, given the code is handwritten on every key card. Furthermore even if it was true that the code was changed daily, every hotel guest staying at The Maypole at the same time have the same code and therefore can enter any hotel room.Whichever way it is presented, security is an issue. Thankfully we were only staying for one night. At breakfast, which was a very, very basic continental affair some of the plates were dirty, the pot of coffee was cold and overall it was disappointing.

Really nice food very friendly.
Liked: Great stop over, lovely little village. Food was fantastic in evening, didn’t expect the steak and chips to be that good. My wife had lovely mushroom lasagna.
Disliked: You can’t help the other guests so some noise at night from next door as they were from a wedding and some had a few drinks! My only main complaint was lights outside each unit lit up the inside as no curtain on the door. Room was really warm (unusual UK summer) not enough pillows and no lid on toilet. Little things that can be made.
