Striking and modern The Marquis of Granby is a former village pub that offers contemporary dining and chic rooms all amid beautiful Kent countryside near Dover Folkestone Canterbury and Ashford. With views of the Alkham Valley an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty The Marquis of Granby was transformed in 2008 to combine timeless rural England with boutique-style luxury. It is 'Highly Commended' by the AA. Space light art fine furnishings and beautiful fabrics: 21st-century on the inside but with a typically English view from the window. As well as the rolling green hills of Alkham Valley 3 of the rooms offer a view of the village cricket field one of the smallest in England. A great stop over- fantastic...

Liked: We always love visiting here.
Disliked: There was a problem with the two electric sockets by bed. But the other one was working ok so we managed ok. We forgot to mention it to staff when we left…

Relaxing and enjoyable, despite the...

Liked: A variety of items for breakfast, but only two kinds of cereals available. Everything cooked to order, so, if in a hurry, it could take too long for some. All very nice anyway.Staff all very friendly.Dinner very tasty, although both of us only had a starter and a sweet on one night of the four we stayed there. Great countryside location between Folkestone and Dover. Near A2 and M20 too.
Disliked: Very hot weather, and the air conditioning unit in our bedroom broke down twice.

Everything was really good except...

Liked: The room was very nice, comfy bed. Perfect. The dinner was delicious.
Disliked: The breakfast was minimal, not enough staff helping. It felt they were saving money on breakfasts!

Excellent stay just off the...

Liked: Attractive pub is a village outside Dover but handy for the ferry or tunnel.Attentive staff and very good food.Clean and attractive rooms.
Disliked: Ridiculous number of cushions on the bed!

Liked: Location - near to the shuttleEvening staff very friendly and attentive
Disliked: Dark bathroom, lighting very poor. Impossible to shave or put make up on . Evening meal heavy and clumsy food although service was goodConstant traffic all night, very noisy

Do not miss this Gem

Liked: This little inn is an absolute gem of sumptuous welcome, class, and comfort. The dinners and breakfasts were served in a charming, well-lighted room. The food was superb, imaginative, and all taken care of by thoroughly professional staff. A true gem. The Le Palmier room was so roomy and had the biggest bath I have ever seen. What a joy!
