Chris K, Liverpool, visiting Norwich Arts Centre Mon, 8 May 2017

We went to an event at the Norwich Arts Centre and I originally booked this hotel due to its proximity to the Arts Centre. What a stroke of luck - our room was overlooking the cathedral; nice and spacious; great bed! We went into the bar and grabbed a quick bite to eat - loved the bar and the food was great; all the staff were very helpful and friendly; can't recommend this hotel enough. Thank you for a great stay.

Liked: Fabulous room with a great view.

Good

Liked: The people were grand. Service with a smile, always helpful.
Disliked: Sound insulation on the room was horrible. You could hear cars and motorcycles on the road passing with the windows closed, even though our room didn't face the street. The beds were also very uncomfortable. It's understandable to have twin beds that are pushed apart when the guests don't want a double room. But because the beds had wheels that didn't lock, it just meant they slid any time you bumped into them, quite a nuisance.

A great location and a...

Liked: A very comfortable and well presented hotel in a marvellous location.
Disliked: The room, in the eves, while nicely presented amd comfortable, was very compact. You have to squeeze between the desk and the bed to get by. The bathroom was bigger than the bedroom. The biggest issue was the shower which didn’t have an attachment to be held above one’s head. Instead you either had to hold it by hand or have it spraying horizontally at chest height across the bath. It looked like there would have been room to have the shower positioned at normal above the head height it the attachment had been installed. Staffing was a little lacklustre and possibly inexperienced both in the restaurant for dinner and on reception at check in - when I was asked to pay for my room (already paid for), was told breakfast was included (only to find out it wasn’t when I went down to breakfast in the morning) and having filled out the form asking for an Observer newspaper in the morning, I never received one and when I pointed this out when checking my bill at check out, I was told that The Observer is not amongst the newspapers provided (though clearly they can still appear on the bill!). A few signs of wear and tear in the corridors and, while the hotel is generally very well presented, it feels a shame that some of the original features have been lost in favour of (for instance) rather dull corridors. These are all very minor niggles (but perhaps worth raising) in what was a very nice and comfortable stay.

Passable

Liked: Location is good as is parking facility.
Disliked: Tv did not work. Steam iron was not clean and left black calc on my white shirt! Noisy outside from kitchen fans (room 408). I asked to me moved only to be told "we can move you to the other side of the hotel...but it's on the road which is quite busy on a Friday night". Will not stay again.

Wonderful hotel and extremely convenient...

Liked: Room was superb-spacious with everything you need plus extras like coat hooks, chilled water and shower instructions. Staff were excellent-extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious with such a wide choice and the coffee was amazing-strong and hot!
Disliked: WiFi was a bit intermittent but didn’t bother us for our stay.

Very good

Liked: Very comfortable room, very good buffet breakfast
Disliked: We were led to believe we would get a complimentary ride in a Bentley around the city, but on arriving found there were no drivers available.I feel we should of been notified this before the day.The room was very cold, only a plug in radiator which took around 3 hours to warm the room.
