The Spotlight on The Lodge Red Hook

Stylish Brooklyn Stay Close to the Music

Modern and full of character, The Lodge Red Hook combines industrial-chic design with a laid-back Brooklyn vibe. Tucked into the creative Red Hook neighborhood, this hotel puts you within easy reach of Lower Manhattan, Prospect Park, Brooklyn Heights, and live music hotspots like the Barclays Center. With free high-speed WiFi, cozy rooms featuring flat-screen TVs and workspaces, and a location that feels off-the-beaten-path yet well connected, it’s a great base for music lovers exploring NYC.

Why Concert-goers love it

Just over half a mile from the Smith–9th Street Subway Station (F and G lines), getting to your concert—whether in Brooklyn or across the river in Manhattan—is quick and simple. The hotel’s location near the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal means it’s a bit removed from the noise of nightlife, making it easy to wind down after a show. With check-in at 3:00 PM and a generous 12:00 PM check-out, there’s plenty of flexibility for late nights and slow mornings.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a fun, cool neighborhood with great food and music
  • Solo travelers attending a bucket-list concert with peace of mind
  • Couples planning a relaxed weekend around a show
  • Fans who want a quieter spot to recover post-concert
  • Budget-conscious music lovers seeking value without sacrificing style

Food and Drink Options

While the hotel doesn’t offer on-site dining, Red Hook is known for its vibrant food scene. You’ll find walkable eateries serving everything from tacos to farm-to-table fare, plus coffee shops perfect for your morning-after fix. Late-night bites are easy to find nearby, and some restaurants even deliver. No breakfast buffet here, but several local cafés open late and early to suit your schedule.

Nightlife Options

Red Hook has a more laid-back nightlife vibe, with craft cocktail bars, waterfront wine spots, and local breweries all within walking distance. Want something more high-energy? Hop on the subway or a ride-share to nearby neighborhoods like Williamsburg or downtown Brooklyn for clubs and live music venues.

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s quirky, artistic design and say it feels like a hidden gem in an under-the-radar part of Brooklyn. The friendly staff, clean rooms, and quiet atmosphere get high marks. Many reviewers mention how easy it is to get around NYC from this location, even without a car.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the area feels a bit industrial and isolated at night, which adds to the quiet but might not suit everyone. There’s no on-site restaurant or bar, so you’ll need to venture out for meals and drinks—but luckily, great options are close by.

The Bottom Line

With its cool Brooklyn charm, peaceful vibe, and great subway access, The Lodge Red Hook is a smart pick for concert-goers who want a stylish spot to recharge after the show.

DO NOT STAY. WORST HOTEL...

Liked: The location is convenient to the Clinton Wharf cruise terminal. As such, travellers are thoroughly exploited.
Disliked: We booked months in advance and advised them we would be arriving very late at night due to travel connections. This fact was acknowledged, although twice more we were asked to confirm our arrival time.We were allocated the last, worst room in the basement, despite our early booking. The room smelled of mould. I immediately requested a change. The pleasant person advised me it was a full house with our cruise departing tomorrow.I tried to open the window to allow air in. It was broken. I sent for Maintenance, and he got it open a crack, but clearly not opened in years.Only one coffee cup was provided.A towel was dirty. At our 9.00 am breakfast, considering our 1.00 am bedtime, there was no food left. It had been eaten out. Breakfast was included in our booking but there was only toast, nothing hot, no cereal and coffee was cleared away before 9.30.Clearly, breakfast is provided by a contractor because it's all wrapped in plastic, but the hotel simply had not ordered enough for its full house, even knowing in advance, and this could have been rectified.I asked for compensation and a refund on breakfast, politely of course, and have since had two letters from the Assistant GM, a Mr Obed Estrada, telling me my request is not worthy.I am a seasoned, reasonable traveller. This hotel is the worst of thousands I have experienced for service, room and cleanliness.DO NOT STAY HERE for your cruise. Go further afield. You need a taxi to the Wharf anyway with luggage.
