The Spotlight on The Lodge Red Hook

Stylish Brooklyn Stay Close to the Music

Modern and full of character, The Lodge Red Hook combines industrial-chic design with a laid-back Brooklyn vibe. Tucked into the creative Red Hook neighborhood, this hotel puts you within easy reach of Lower Manhattan, Prospect Park, Brooklyn Heights, and live music hotspots like the Barclays Center. With free high-speed WiFi, cozy rooms featuring flat-screen TVs and workspaces, and a location that feels off-the-beaten-path yet well connected, it’s a great base for music lovers exploring NYC.

Why Concert-goers love it

Just over half a mile from the Smith–9th Street Subway Station (F and G lines), getting to your concert—whether in Brooklyn or across the river in Manhattan—is quick and simple. The hotel’s location near the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal means it’s a bit removed from the noise of nightlife, making it easy to wind down after a show. With check-in at 3:00 PM and a generous 12:00 PM check-out, there’s plenty of flexibility for late nights and slow mornings.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a fun, cool neighborhood with great food and music
  • Solo travelers attending a bucket-list concert with peace of mind
  • Couples planning a relaxed weekend around a show
  • Fans who want a quieter spot to recover post-concert
  • Budget-conscious music lovers seeking value without sacrificing style

Food and Drink Options

While the hotel doesn’t offer on-site dining, Red Hook is known for its vibrant food scene. You’ll find walkable eateries serving everything from tacos to farm-to-table fare, plus coffee shops perfect for your morning-after fix. Late-night bites are easy to find nearby, and some restaurants even deliver. No breakfast buffet here, but several local cafés open late and early to suit your schedule.

Nightlife Options

Red Hook has a more laid-back nightlife vibe, with craft cocktail bars, waterfront wine spots, and local breweries all within walking distance. Want something more high-energy? Hop on the subway or a ride-share to nearby neighborhoods like Williamsburg or downtown Brooklyn for clubs and live music venues.

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s quirky, artistic design and say it feels like a hidden gem in an under-the-radar part of Brooklyn. The friendly staff, clean rooms, and quiet atmosphere get high marks. Many reviewers mention how easy it is to get around NYC from this location, even without a car.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the area feels a bit industrial and isolated at night, which adds to the quiet but might not suit everyone. There’s no on-site restaurant or bar, so you’ll need to venture out for meals and drinks—but luckily, great options are close by.

The Bottom Line

With its cool Brooklyn charm, peaceful vibe, and great subway access, The Lodge Red Hook is a smart pick for concert-goers who want a stylish spot to recharge after the show.

Bad

Disliked: The hotel is completely isolated, at least a 15-minute walk from the nearest subway. The room was small and dirty, with sticky jam on the floor. Breakfast is run like a military camp. At the entrance there is a rude attendant yelling at guests to give their room number, writing it down on a scrap of paper without even knowing if the room is occupied, how many people are inside, or if someone comes down in two rounds for breakfast. The same person dictates what you can and cannot take: there was a wrap with eggs or a classic plate with eggs and potatoes, but you are not allowed to have both. They put the food on your plate themselves, except for the cheap fruit and cold cuts from the discount store. If you take more than they like, they stare at you. The breakfast room is tiny, there aren’t enough seats, and you are forced to share long communal tables. The most absurd moment was when we asked for water, which was missing from the tables. The man serving the eggs left his station, went to the coffee and hot water thermoses, took some ice from a container, poured boiling water over it, and said: “Now you’ll see it becomes cold!” Absolutely ridiculous. For the price you pay, you expect something decent, not a place worse than the shadiest dive in New York. Avoid if you can, and keep in mind you will also spend extra money every day just to reach the city since it is so isolated.
