Good

Liked: Sauna in the room was great and the spa bath
Disliked: There was a rotten liver pate mouldy in the fridge which was turned off so the smell was horrendous when we opened the fridge and there were 2 massive spiders in the splash pool in our room so we couldnt use this facility

Fair - 2.5 out of 5

Stayed here 8 years ago...

Liked: Rooms good.
Disliked: Shame the restaurant wasn't operating on a Sunday. Upon leaving, we couldn't get out because the barrier was inoperable for some time. Our room looked out upon an old caravan, broken machinery, a washing line and long grass. The hallway appeared to have had flood damage and therefore had an unpleasant odour.

Wonderful area

Liked: The location is superb, the female owner was very nice to is and the breakfast and dinner were nice.
Disliked: We never managed to see ospreys as the hotel description states, although walked a lot around the lake. We only didnt like the fact that our balcony lacked privacy and we had drunk ladies walk all over our balcony and using the spa in the balcony, shouting and laughing at night when we badly needed to relax.

Didn't live up to expectations,...

Liked: Great location, owners were friendly, the one evening meal we had was basic fare but tasty and well prepared.
Disliked: I think 'faded glory' sums the place up best, was probably very nice when first opened but now somewhat tired / run down feeling. Not as clean as it could be. Lots and lots of very long winded, convoluted, odd rules for just about everything which usually end with you having to pay an extra charge. Bar prices excessive - £2.50 for (slightly less than) a half pint glass of soda water with ice!? £1.25 for a dash of lime cordial?? The place doesn't live up to the very grandiose claims made on their website. Perhaps rather than over-promising and under-delivering they could try the opposite...
