The Spotlight on The Lodge at St Edward State Park

Peaceful Park Escape Close to the Music

Modern luxury meets serene forest vibes at The Lodge at St Edward State Park, tucked away in Kenmore just 15 miles from downtown Seattle. Set within a lush state park, this beautifully restored 4-star hotel blends historic architecture with contemporary comfort, offering a unique escape for concert-goers who want proximity to the action—without sleeping in the middle of it.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re close enough to catch your favorite artist at venues in Seattle (Space Needle is 15 miles away, CenturyLink Field is 16), but far enough to enjoy a quiet night’s sleep surrounded by nature. With 24-hour front desk service, a sauna for post-show unwinding, and easy rideshare access back from the city, it’s a great home base for music lovers who crave both excitement and calm. Flexible 4:00 PM check-in and an 11:00 AM check-out make timing your stay around show schedules easy.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends who want to explore Seattle by day and chill in the park by night
- Solo travelers on a music pilgrimage with room to recharge
- Couples making a romantic weekend out of a concert night
- Fans who prefer a restorative environment post-show
- Budget-conscious music lovers looking for value without sacrificing style

Food and Drink Options

The on-site restaurant dishes up local fare with forest views, and the bar is a cozy spot for a nightcap. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the à la carte breakfast is perfect if you sleep in after a late night. With a coffee machine in every room, you’ll have caffeine at your fingertips whenever you need it. Dining options are nearby in Kenmore and Kirkland for pre- or post-concert bites.

Nightlife Options

While it’s quieter on-site, you’re just a short drive from Seattle’s music scene, bars, and lounges. The Lodge’s bar serves up craft drinks in a relaxed setting—ideal for winding down after a loud night. For those looking to extend the fun, nearby neighborhoods like Fremont and Capitol Hill offer plenty of after-hours action.

What People Say

Guests rave about the peaceful setting, beautifully renovated rooms, and welcoming staff. Many love the blend of history and modern comfort, with the surrounding park adding a special touch. Reviewers highlight the hotel’s cleanliness, quiet atmosphere, and its unique location that feels like a retreat—without being far from Seattle’s bustle.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that it’s a bit of a drive to downtown venues, so having a car or planning transport ahead is key. Also, while the setting is serene, it might not suit those looking for a party vibe on-site.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want the energy of Seattle’s music scene and the tranquility of a forest retreat, The Lodge at St Edward State Park strikes the perfect balance.

A peaceful, clean and recharging...

Liked: The Lodge is our favorite hotel in Seattle. It's everything you could wish for and more! The nature around the lodge is so peaceful and clean, it's a pleasure to wake up early to enjoy a walk with your furry best friend. If you're looking for an exceptionally clean, peaceful and dog friendly place - you really need to stay here!
Disliked: Only thing that I could think of would be a mini fridge in the room. Especially when you travel with a pup, it's easier to be able to keep some dog snacks/food cooled.

Would stay again. Enjoyed hiking...

Liked: From the time we pulled into the valet to the time we checked out, we found the staff and the lodge to be exceptional.
Disliked: Didn't completely DISLIKE it, but did not find the food served at Cedar + Elm to be of the caliber of a Michelin-star restaurant. The service was great, the food was okay.

Beautiful scenery, but let down...

Liked: The room was clean, the view and scenery were nice, the staff were friendly. The rooms have a nespresso machine, robes to cozy up in, and a nice size tv. I appreciated there were 3 restaurants in the establishment, however, they also seemed to have similar menu items (only 2/3 open when we visited). I appreciated they had a map with the walking trails around the building even though we didn't utilize them during our stay.
Disliked: Their valet service and your ability to get your car period ends at 11pm until roughly 7am. If you like to be able to have that freedom, this is something to consider. I booked the hotel as a local getaway and as I was interested in the historical remodel--parts of their restaurants and library appeared to be done nicely, the hotel rooms being the same size and structure, but I feel much of the inside architectural makeup was compromised and not necessarily treated as I would've hoped. The glass showers in the room do have a tendency to leak, but wasn't a problem when we had a towel crammed directly below it. I did grow up seeing the outside of the building by visiting the park throughout my childhood on multiple occasions, so I have an idea of some of the changes--it's kind of sad. I had high expectations for such a beautiful building. My husband and I also tried Cedar & Elm restaurant during our stay--although going for more an upscale vibe, the food wasn't our favorite; and when we tried to order room service for a more private dessert later, we were put thru to their phone line to the kitchen where no one picked up with no VM situation set up. To wrap it up, as a hotel, there's nothing wrong with it. If you are hoping for an experience, I felt disappointed. For the price, a light breakfast/muffins in rm or something would be nice to be included in the stay, and I would've appreciated more details preserved to maintain the indoor integrity of this historical landmark.

Excellent minus sleeping comfort

Liked: Beautiful property , gorgeous surrounding, nice restraint, very friendly and pleasant staff, clean, extremely quiet..BUT!!! Bed is way too soft, almost like a hammock, got a back ache, was considering sleeping on a floor. With the firmer mattress overall score would be 10+++++++
Disliked: Hammock mattress, way too soft, not good for anyone back
