Overall a disappointment

Liked: Location is lovely with great views. Many of the staff were fantasticly helpful and pleasant.
Disliked: So... Specifics, my daughter who booked a third room had a room that smelt strongly on night 1 of urine. After raising this with reception the carpet was cleaned. Unfortunately this made the smell 10 times worse (gag level unpleasant). After a second visit to reception a new room was made available. This was a slight upgrade and very appreciated. What I was disappointed by on reflection was no offer of compensation for night 1 where both my daughter and son in law had to sleep in 50% of the bed to get away from the strong urine smell on one side. Just not ok.Overall the hotel was just tired and needs some tlc. Stains on carpets, missing blinds meaning we were awake at silly o'clock. The shower leaked and the shower curtain had mould. Housekeeping was erratic, some days I had to and get towels etc other days they did a good job. The security window opened fully, the safe wouldn't set.i could go on but you get the idea.Breakfast was again variable, 2 out of 3 days reasonable, 1 day poorly cooked and everyone left half which is a shame.Overall it needs to invest in some maintenance and some care, I wouldn't stay again unless reviews reflected this.

Disliked: Understaffed while there were 2 events on - bar wait was over 10 minutes at the downstairs bar before 7pm. Rooms were a little dated. No fans or A/C in room.
