J.W, Ripon, visiting Mountford Hall Liverpool Mon, 19 February 2024

The Liner is easy to get to, offers free parking and is well- situated. The staff are lovely and the rooms are nice, especially the bathroom. But our stay was marred by the external noise which I think was some sort of air con unit, so slept badly.

Liked: Staff very friendly. Nice decor and feel to the hotel.
Disliked: Kept awake by very noisy external air con unit (I assume).

Poor - 1.0 out of 5

Carole D, Southampton, visiting O2 Academy Liverpool Mon, 9 July 2018

Terrible, all this for £157.50. Will only stay again in WINTER.

Liked: Clean room and comfortable.
Disliked: No Air Con. The room was unbearably hot - the supplied fan just circulated hot air. I had to have a cold shower at 1am just to cool myself down! Very little sleep due to this and suffered a very bad headache because of tiredness and overheating.

A little difficult to find. Tucked out of the way. Excellent breakfast - plenty of choice, including fresh fruit, great tea and coffee machine.

Liked: Staff were friendly and welcoming. Room very clean with all the amenities one would expect. Good tea and coffee tray.
Disliked: The hotel restaurant was disappointing - starters were good but the rest of the food was lacklustre. The batter on the fish was soggy and the chips with the burger were not crisp. Portion size was good.

Exceptional - 5.0 out of 5

Lynne S, Fleetwood, visiting O2 Academy Liverpool Sat, 8 November 2014

Pity the chef did not take any pride in the layout of the cooked breakfast. It was just thrown in the serving dishes and not rotated. Lots of waitresses, so why could they not serve tea, coffee and toast to elevate the crush at buffet style breakfast?

Liked: Hotel and facilities excellent; would highly recommend hotel.
Disliked: Breakfast was very poor but could easily be improved; a problem with continuous door slamming - do the arms need adjusting for a quiet close?

We will definitely return to...

Liked: The hotel is very tastefully decorated. Staff are friendly, rooms comfortable, food delicious and cocktails very nice.
Disliked: Our room was to the back of Lime Street train station which was extremely noisy and the heat in the room was overbearing. There was no air conditioning unit although there was a fan but with noise coming from the train station we really didn’t need the noise of a fan as well.

Suited all my needs for...

Liked: Convenient location for train travel and conference venue. Helpful and friendly staff. Very good value for money on the whole.
Disliked: I would have preferred a separate shower rather than the usual bath and there was no extractor fan to take away the steam/condensation. The breakfast was adequate but I would have liked more continental choices on the buffet.

Liked: The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was good for where we wanted to go
Disliked: The breakfast was poor quality and everything was over cooked. Not well organised meaning there were long queues for a table and waiting for food to be provided. The bed was so soft we almost rolled off and sleep was disturbed all night by the radiator banging constantly.

A very pleasant stay in...

Liked: The location is perfect, right by the train station, and for us as we drove there having it's own large car park was great. The room was very comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. The two gentleman who are on duty during the night were fantastic. We planned to go back to the bar for a drink before bed but it was already closed when we arrived back and so they went above and beyond sorting drinks from those available 24 hours on reception and giving us lots of tips about the city. A credit to the hotel.
Disliked: The bathroom was tired, quite a few black marks around the bath and the plug didn't open so the bath drained very slowly when the shower was running. As we were staying for two nights we reported it to reception on the first morning and they said they would get maintenance to look at it but it wasn't resolved during our stay. There also wasn't an extractor fan in there so it was very steamy and the mirror took forever to de-mist.For the price paid the bathroom was a let down.
