It was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, in my entire life. The rooms stank of overused bleach; the furniture was super old and the decor was awful; we didn’t want to drink from the plastic cups provided that were all wrapped up in wet and covered bags in bleach on the bathroom sink. There was a conference chair in the room used for the desk, it was awful. I just don’t know how to explain it, stayed in far FAR better places for less money than that. It was dirty; looked like an abandoned building, basically, that had a load of old furniture in it. It felt like an apocalypse. I FELT SCARED! Not to mention looking outside around the building there were stacks of old bricks /weeds, and even when we were walking to our room there were abandoned rooms. With old tea cups on view though the windows / even the clean laundry for making up beds was on display in a disgusting room. I would give this hotel no stars. There was a problem with checking in the reception, they really worried us as he couldn’t find the booking and charged us an extra.

Liked: Nothing.
Disliked: Everything.

Staff were pleasant. Rooms were small but very clean. Breakfast was OK. But everything good was negated by the fact that there was a cat in the hotel. It was allowed to run around freely - it was in reception, being taken up to the rooms by residents and running around while we were served breakfast. I am allergic to cats so had an itchy throat and eyes etc., but allergy aside, I think this is totally unacceptable. This surely creates a health and safety issue? Are animals allowed in an environment where the public are being served food? And where you pay £90 for a bed for one night? Not impressed. Would definitely not stay at this hotel again.

Liked: Rooms were clean.
Disliked: Allowing a cat to be in the hotel.

Very good

Liked: Nice sized room, close to the bus stop into centre.Very quiet, lovely breakfast next door at the parkside.Would definately stay again.
Disliked: Tv would be better on the wall. To plug the bed side lamp in had to stretch the lead across the room.

I took one look at...

Liked: N/A
Disliked: Travellers site on the field opposite on arrival. Not safe to leave a work van. Dirty scruffy appearance from the outside don’t be fooled by the photos. On arrival greeted by something smoking on the entrance steps.

huge room and friendly polite...

Liked: the hotel staff were very accommodating (as we had our dog with us) the room was a lovely size and we had no trouble in finding a place to put the dog bed, their was plenty of wardrobe space and places to put your cloths, the full English breakfast was lovely and the staff were all friendly and polite.
Disliked: I found the bed uncomfortable (we have memory foam mattress at home) and there was a group of guests that came in late and was very noisy when they were going to their rooms as they kept banging the doors and talking loudly.(but that is not the hotels fault)

Adequate, but will not use...

Liked: Change to sister hotel next door as my travelling companion is disabled , and there is no lift in the original booked hotel. Also there are steps to the entrance and no obvious indication of a ramp at the entrance for easier access for those who have difficulty with stairs.
Disliked: On arrival, having to go to adjacent sister hotel to check in . Surroundings to actual Lawn hotel building, appear run down and neglected. On initial arrival, no obvious indication that you had to go next door for chack in. Only thanks to someone ( ?staff member) sitting outside on the steps, that we found out where to go Luckily my companion and myself were allocated rooms in the next door hotel Where the ambience was much improved. Problems in the room included No plugs in the bath or sink . Hot water adequate in the bath and shower, but non existant in the hand basin. Toiletries supplied were adquate, but visually impaired persons would not have found it easy to distinguish between the shampoo and body wash. The soap pat supplied was very poor. Soap dispensers would be a vast improvement as would holders for the toilet roll. No toilet brush in the bathroom and no bathroom bin. As my companion and I had early morning appointments on both days of the stay, we could not take advantage of the breakfast, I would suggest a room rate without breakfast would be convenient especially for business travellers. Inn addition, although the lack of lift is mentioned in the Lawn Hotel building, description I could not not see any information relating to steps at the entrance to the building.

Complete absence of housekeeping, staff...

Liked: Leaving
Disliked: The Lawn Hotel is a sad-looking large detached house. It’s set in a large parking area fringed with ramshackle sheds and a couple of dumpsters. It sits alongside the larger, mediocre-looking Park International Hotel. The Lawn Hotel was deserted, but for a large, beautiful Alsatian dog kept behind a metal, gated fence at the rear left-side of the property, who - bless him, regularly barked at anyone coming or going, at any hour, for extended periods. You have to walk up and around a wide driveway to check in at the Park International, again seemingly deserted, with only a single receptionist - not particularly engaging. The room itself was in a poor condition, with only the desk and bedside unit tops dusted. All other surfaces - even the curtains were covered in a film of dust, even cobwebbed. There was a tear in the greyed nets, and the bed throw was stained.I went to make a cup of tea, going to pick up a teaspoon from its saucer, only to find it firmly stuck to the saucer with leftover coffee - so much so, that I was able to hold the saucer UPSIDE down BY the spoon handle, without it budging. The bathroom sink’s pipe works were leaking onto the floor, the toilet flushed poorly, the soap tray in the shower was covered in a film of soap, and the metal waste bin was all rusty. The walls were thin, letting in noise from guests in neighbouring rooms until late into the night.I saw no-one, even remotely, resembling housekeeping staff at any time.I skipped breakfast, doubting it would be anything other than sub-par - presumptuous of me maybe.Unfortunately this was the only property, within my budget, to an event I was attending. With only enough time to drop off my luggage I couldn't negotiate for a room clean before my return. For this experience I paid the, not insignificant, sum of £95.This property was a real let down. The listing should immediately be removed.

Passable

Liked: Checking in was easyThe staff member who checked us in was very friendly
Disliked: Exterior was terrible it looked like parts had been condemned.with builders fences all around .Disabled ramp led to door that was Impossible for a solo wheelchair user to open and the handrail was covered in bird droppings.Interior was dated and although reasonably clean needs a refresh .No disabled ground floor toilets your options are a very dirty staff toilet or return to your room.the room itself was again outdated and in need of decorating and was dirty .

Terrible!

Liked: That lady on reception was lovely.
Disliked: There were people in my corridor all night long going in and out of their rooms talking in the corridor. My room was NOT soundproofed and it sounded like they were in my room all night! I got no sleep until they went to sleep about 3.30am! I had work the next day. There was also poo still stuck on the OUTSIDE of my toilet basin that was never cleaned off. Absolutely discussing! Dust everywhere, all over lights and dirty blankets. Never again. It seemed a Drugs den!
