Centrally located (opposite Southend Central station), close to the high street and seafront. Very nice, large room above pub with access through bar during opening-time. Check in from 2pm, check out at 11am was good for a leisurely stay. Beautifully clean and nicely decorated room, HD TV, tea and coffee, iron and ironing board in wardrobe, bath and shower in bathroom all contributed to the feel of a luxury hotel that I wasn't expecting, as it's a Wetherspoons hotel that offers reasonable pricing for a Friday night. Access to rooms by speaking to bar staff and paging a manager to check you in. Good alternative to Travelodge/Premier Inn.
Liked: Large room with enough eye for detail in the decor to give feeling of luxury at reasonable price.
Disliked: Difficult to get through on the phone to speak to hotel staff with questions about parking.

Liked: Second time we've stayed here and first was a much better experience, room was lovely, so its a bit hit and miss what you get. Think Gump and his chocolates. Away from the room, the spoons ordering app is the best thing since sliced bread.
Disliked: No dedicated room staff so waiting for a free member of bar staff to check you in can be irritating. Room was far too small to be called a double and was over the area that the staff moved steel barrels about at 2 in the morning... not a lot of Zed's were gotten. Generally the staff are blank faced, unfocused and slow to clean tables.

Liked: Room much bigger and more comfortable than I expected, everything we needed and more for a very reasonable price. Parking at railway station close by so no problem to park. Staff were really helpful and friendly and service was prompt. Rooms clean with everything you need like kettle, hairdryer, clean towels etc. Even had soya milk in the room for morning tea! Had breakfast in the pub in the morning...wasn?t sure how it would but very pleasantly surprised, delicious food, eggs perfectly cooked, good strong coffee. Perfect for seeing gigs at Cliffs pavilion.
Disliked: Seats in the pub needed a clean

Liked: Rooms were excellent, food good value and varied .
Disliked: Reception isn?t manned very often as staff are running from pub hotel It made car parking bookings awkward as we had to wait for staff to come from the pub area to reception . Either man the reception or make it easier for guests to manage their own car parking .

Liked: The Last Post is central and the rooms comfortable. Four couples in our party all agreed that it was value for money. The lady who checked us in was very helpful as was the bar team member who looked after our birthday cake. Despite how busy it is the rooms are really quiet.
Disliked: It is Sousa the tea can?t keep up with clearing tables.
