Lantern Pike Apr 24

Liked: Location was fantastic for us given we were hiking. We were able to hike directly from the front door and end our day at the Lantern Pike.
Disliked: Booked the Lantern Pike as it had 1pm check in and 10-1030am checkout, sadly on arrival the place was locked and when called we were told it wouldn't open until 5pm. When challenged on this at check in we were told that the change of check in was advertised on the Facebook page...there's an assumption that guests follow them on FB. The rooms are dated and require an overhaul. Our particular room has a beam which hangs across the middle of the ceiling which is painted white therefore blends in with the remainder of the ceiling, this is a hazard which is not marked and we hit our heads several times. Lighting in the room was poor, with one of the two lights not working. The shower leaks all over the bathroom floor.Breakfast is interesting, the owner chats to guests and makes breakfast in his pyjamas. With no breakfast menu, we offered "whatever you want" but when poached eggs were asked for, we were told that this wasn't possible because the owner didn't know how to make them.

An inn where nothing is...

Liked: Mark & his staff made my wife and I very welcome and comfortable during our stay. The food from the menu was superb and the meats were all locally sourced and very tasty and good value for money. The cask beers were bright and well kept, the wines were fresh and very drinkable.
Disliked: The weather!! even Mark was not able to change it.
