Liked: Excellent, clean room, amazing view with Humphrey on the balcony. All sorts of accessories and accoutrements in the room show a lot of thought has gone in to making a stay as stress-free as possible. Brilliant staff on reception plus great breakfast in bed (extra cost and a little pricey but worth it).
Disliked: It's a slightly "old school" hotel so the dining room, lounge, bar etc are a bit retro-y, which we loved but maybe not to everyone's taste. Parking out front is a lottery - we were lucky enough to pull up straight into a vacant space - but parking elsewhere can be expensive.

Good value for money, would...

Liked: It was the cheapest hotel in Brighton I could find on a very busy weekend and it was fine for the money. Clean and comfortable, no frills. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was basic but nice. Bathroom was clean, shower was hot.
Disliked: The only criticism I would have is that the name of the hotel is misleading. It's nowhere near the Lanes! (A good half hour walk). But it's very convenient for the pier and beach, and is in a nice location facing the sea front.

Fantastic time

Liked: Room was nice, big, and very comfortable. We liked our balcony very much with Humphrey Bogart.
Disliked: No complaint
