Exceptional
Liked: It was a stopover for us before going to another hotel, we really liked it there, room was clean, food was lovely. Staff was lovely and very kind.
Disliked: Can't really fault it. Although we had an issue with the card not opening the door due to batteries not working but wasn't a problem at all as it was solved and we got free drinks in the bar so no complaints

Comfortable hotel in pleasant setting
Liked: We were here for my son's graduation, so the location suited us, being out of central Dundee, but only 11 minutes drive away. There were pleasant grounds, a gym and pool, and it was quiet. Our room was a decent size with a comfortable bed, TV, and well-appointed en suite, with a bath and shower. We had complimentary bottles of water, packs of biscuits, tea and coffee, and a kettle. There were ample power points, bedside lamps, and tables.
Disliked: There wasn't a fan in the room and it was quite hot, but we saw one outside a neighbouring room, so they may have been available on request. There weren't shops or eateries in the immediate vicinity, but plenty of both only a short drive away.We had to pay for parking on arrival - £5 per 24hr period - I would have preferred the parking to be included for hotel guests.

Good value edge-of-city location for...
Liked: The staff were welcoming and helpful, and patient with some overseas guests who were experiencing difficulties at check-in. The leisure facilities looked attractive, although we'd never planned to use them. The historic part of the building is very attractive, and our room in the new section was comfortable and quiet.
Disliked: Although the hotel has its own car park, you have to pay for this separately. For some strange reason (and to the discomfort of the staff) you cannot pay the hotel, but have to log onto an app to find rates and make payment. It's not what I'd call user-friendly, especially when you are tired after a long journey!

Pleasant
Liked: Good location for the trip I was on, comfy bed, iron available in the room as well as a small wardrobe to hang up clothes. Sauna and steam room were great but the pool is very small
Disliked: The room and bathroom weren't the cleanest and could do with a bit of tlc. Bedroom could do with a main light as it only has small lights beside the bed or outside the bathroom. Breakfast seemed very unorganised but the food was okay. The hotel website states that parking is free for guests but on arrival the car park was camera controlled and cost £5 per day. Given that the hotel is 4 stars I expected better overall

Tired hotel in need of...
Liked: Bathroom in room was excellent
Disliked: Did not get accessible room booked. Room had dodgy electrics, moth holes on carpet, moths still in residence in room, filthy carpet which in doorways was coming up - trip hazard, Aircon on wall with instructions but hotel no longer uses, asked for fan which when arrived was clogged with dark, dirty dust, no allergy warning about feather pillows when we have asthma and COPD. Hall carpet also very worn with multiple trip hazards. The only thing that was 4* was the bathroom!
