Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Unless you really want a...

Liked: Sauna and steam room, gym and swimming pool attached to hotel. It was the main reason we booked this place.
Disliked: Parking......hotel website CLEARLY states free parking, yet on arrival there's signs everywhere, and at reception, to pay for parking, and it's a ridiculous £10 for overnight. That's more expensive than Dundee city centre! Complained to staff about it, response was nothing they can do! I've reported it to Dundee council trading standards. Also, the hotel website says that due to roadworks the access road from the roundabout is closed from 7pm to 7am, so we went on a 20-minute detour to get to the hotel and avoid the roundabout......only to find out that there's no roadworks at all, they've finished and the road is all fully open! On checking-in to the hotel, we were told that their system wasn't working properly, so whilst they could see our reservation they didn't know if the room was given to someone else! Reception staff (one one working) had to run back and forth from reception to some other room to perform a x-check. We weren't impressed. ps, also the bar closes at 10pm sharp!

Shambles

Liked: Nothing, they mucked up our booking and have been terrible and insulting to make right
Disliked: Where do I start! After being told that there was a £40 charge to book in 2 hrs early and they held no responsibility if we were to leave bags, I asked if we can check in at 12.30 pm as we had a wedding and had to be there for 13.30. The lady dutifully took our name and ensured us this would be fine. I did remind her that we had booked a superior room and again, not a problem sir. So we arrived at 12.30 pm to be told that there was no room. They did insist I would get a refund ....in 3 days time!. Obviously at this time of night, it was the hotels muck up, I was expecting that they would book us another hotel and whisk us away to try and make it up for it, sadly not, we were to book and organise transport?! Not knowing dundee, we obviously took umbrage to this. Manager wasn't there and wouldn't speak to us on the phone, leaving a young inexperienced (certainly seemed this) to deal with it. He did start to look for hotels, but didn't seem confident, didn't know where these hotels where and what they were like!. As we had to return to this sham in the morning to get our car amd it was now 1.30 in the morning, we had to set up camp in reception! The porter did give us mattress covers! To keep us warm, which on closer inspection when dirty!! So our stay was attrocias but, they totally outdid there selves in the morning! The chef then arrived at 6.30 in the morning and dutifully then woke us up, to say we couldn't stay here, we had been offered a refund, please leave and I am calling the police!! I tried to get his name but funnily enough revoke that ask and did then phone the police! So as we had been to a wedding, a few drinks were had, so my driving capacity was not going to be until noon. So we had to linger in the lobby in our wedding clothes, waiting to not go home, but for the police to come! The customer care, professionalism and duty of care is truly shocking! For info, police came, heard the story, then left....

Nice stay but let down...

Liked: Room was nice and beds were good quality, with good quality linen.
Disliked: Disappointed with having to pay £5 per night for parking. This should be free to residents. Only managed to stay 2 nights instead of 3 booked but no refund.

Generally a very pleasant stay,...

Liked: On arrival I met Kelsey, who gave a warm and welcoming reception. Considerate and very helpful, she even double checked that the next day's meeting room would be fully accessible to me in my wheelchair. I appreciated the clean, comfortable, well laid out, wheelchair accessible room that I had been allocated. It had a spacious ensuite wetroom and I was grateful for the shower seat and lovely toiletries. I enjoyed my evening meal and was particularly grateful to the kind waitress who had served me, then took two minutes to push me back to my room. Thank you for a generally very pleasant overnight stay.
Disliked: I had paid for a wheelchair accessible room weeks in advance and booked a dinner table on arrival. My taxi driver helped me to my room, which wasn't far from reception. Around 6pm, I called for help to get to the dining room, but was advised that no member of staff was available to help me make the journey of under 100 metre journey (all indoors). Unfortunately I am not able to use a self-propelled or powered wheelchair as I don't have a sense of touch or grip. While I can use a combination of vision and muscle memory to get me through many situations, I struggled to get to the restaurant and arrived feeling breathless and uncomfortable. I am not a heavy person and the distance involved was relatively short. I don't expect staff to be constantly at my beck and call, but I believe that the request to help me to get to the dining room was a reasonable one. I hope that you will agree and that future staff training can be suitably adjusted.

Awful...the worst

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: Felt ripped off...poor, poor, poor. Would never recommend and certainly won't be back. Watched lots of booked guests be turned away by rude staff as the greed of hotel exceeded capacity. Breakfast staff were nice but breakfast was inedible. Reception need serious customer service training and booked a family room and was given a double with a camp bed. Just shocking and looking for a full refund. Never experienced anything like it from a supposed 4 star hotel. £179.40 for one night!
