Hotel needs a make over...
Liked: Location, friendly staff, food was good
Disliked: Room was far too warm, no view. Leisure pool was tired looking and lots of safety hazards.Sharp unprotected wire end in pool supporting lane floats. Hairdryers never been cleaned and clogged up at the intake end, fire hazard.

disappointing
Liked: it was in a good location and had nice decoration. the room they gave us was spacious and the staff were nice. breakfast was okay pretty standard
Disliked: Do not eat in the cois locha restaurant, it is so overpriced for what is basically cafeteria food. for starters and mains cost 75€ for 2 people and they served us unseasoned vegetables, the mash was cold in the middle which means it’s microwaved :( it wasn’t even good pub food. for the room the beds and duvets were zipped together which is normal but had no padding so the zip would dig in if you lay on it. the shower has zero water pressure and the sink faucets were not working properly.

Great breakfast and leisure facilities.
Liked: The breakfast was very good, bit a holiday highlight in fact, good variety of foodstuffs, ordering speciality eggs, florentine and salmon for me, and the buffet full Irish alongside.I was pleased with the leisure facilities; the gym, the only one in Killaloe, is not super polished but is better than average for a hotel for weightlifting equipment, free weights, bars benches and exercise space - enough to keep the local gym goers happy who were the primary users of it. Also decent running machines, a bike or two, and a couple of Concept 2 rowing machines for the cardio folks. The sauna and steam room were great - fortunately they were recently back working again after being out of action for some weeks or months apparently. The pool slide was fun, surprisingly quick. As a swimmer I had no pool safety concerns; I was curious about the deep end depth when chatting to a local in the steam room before using it - 1.5m was clearly signed as expected so the tragic incident a few days later probably wasn't related to that.
Disliked: No lift so elderly people were struggling with the stairs from reception and getting help from other guests with their luggage if they were lucky. I realised afterwards I'd not offered to help an old couple with their luggage as they stood aside for me at the top of the stairs so I didn't like myself for that, someone else offered before I thought of it.The leisure facility lockers weren't lockable - that's a concern so I put my valuables in a bag poolside.
