Liked: Very comfortable bed and room. Food was excellent, both breakfast and dinner. Spa and pool is clean and well equipped. Highly professional staff. You can walk a long stretch of the river directly from the hotel doors.
Disliked: There is little in the way of other dining options nearby - nothing in walking distance, and only basic pub fare within a 15 minute drive. So it would be good if there were other options beside the set three course dinner, for nights when you don't want to eat that quantity or pay that much

Exactly what we wanted -...

Liked: Set in a tranquil, remote location. Peaceful surroundings, and big enough to do a 2.5km loop of the hotel grounds. You can walk along the path through woods, along the river and around the lake. Very charming place, and the lounge area with fire place has so much character. Relaxing place to read your book or enjoy your hot/cold drinks. The 3 course meal was worth the price as it was exquisite, presented to a high standard and delicious. The staff were friendly, helpful and provided top service. The spa was delightful with a view of the lake and enjoyed the facilities. We came here for my bf’s birthday and we wanted a bit of luxury as we’ve never done that before. They kindly upgraded us for the occasion and were always quick to respond to my questions via email. It was better than I expected and the entire stay/experience was exceptional. We had a wonderful time and will certainly come back one day and 100% will recommend to friends. Thank you.
Disliked: I have no complaints. Basic stuff like maybe having a couple of extra door/wall hooks to hang towels or jackets. It’s great that the hotel aren’t too fussed about outdoor dirt but I feel bad having walked around the woods and bringing dirt inside. Maybe a door shoe/boot scrub would be handy near the entrance to the hotel or outside the lodge rooms.

The stay was ok but...

Liked: Breakfast was good. Room clean. swimming pool and spa clean and comfortable.
Disliked: The only option for dinner was a £60 full course dinner. I can't eat that much and just wanted a main course. No other options.Bar seem to shut at 9pm?No signage anywhere. I didn't know where to park. I couldn't find where the reception was at first. No fridge in the roomHotel was empty and staff very difficult to find at timesSpa shut at 7pm and very strange to walk out of the pool through the changing rooms, through the reception, up the stairs, through the middle of the gym and then out to the outdoor hot tub.
