The Spotlight on The L Hotel Ascend Hotel Collection

Comfortable Brooklyn Base Close to the Music

Modern, simple, and wallet-friendly, The L Hotel Ascend Hotel Collection sits in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood—just a short ride from major music venues like Barclays Center. With free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour front desk, and easy access to public transit, it’s a solid home base for anyone heading out to catch a show in the borough or across the bridge into Manhattan.

Rooms are clean and straightforward—think practical over posh—with everything you need to recharge after a night out. The hotel also features a business center and an on-site ATM for added convenience.

Located just 2.6 miles from Barclays Center and under 3.5 miles from Brooklyn Bridge Park and Red Hook, you’re well-placed for both music and sightseeing. LaGuardia Airport is also just 12 miles away, making arrivals and departures pretty easy.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel’s location puts you within a quick ride of Brooklyn’s most popular venues, while staying slightly outside the busiest nightlife zones—perfect if you want a quieter place to come back to. The 24-hour front desk is a big plus for late-night concert returns, and free Wi-Fi makes it easy to share those epic setlists or post-show pics. Public transit options nearby give you flexibility to hop around the boroughs without hassle.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for an affordable Brooklyn launchpad
  • Solo travelers catching a legendary act at Barclays
  • Couples planning a concert-and-chill weekend
  • Fans who want to recover in a quieter setting post-show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want proximity to the action

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, the surrounding Sunset Park area offers plenty of walkable dining options including late-night bites. You’ll find everything from local delis to casual sit-down spots within a few blocks. Breakfast is available nearby, ideal for those slower mornings after a late night out. There’s no room service, but with a 24-hour front desk, you’ll never be completely stuck.

Nightlife Options

You won’t find live music or a bar inside the hotel, but you’re close to some of Brooklyn’s trendiest nightlife spots. Red Hook and Gowanus bars and lounges are just a quick ride away, offering everything from craft cocktails to dive-y dance floors. Prefer something mellow? Grab a drink at a local bar before heading back for a low-key night.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the clean rooms, friendly front desk, and the hotel’s convenient location for concerts and local Brooklyn attractions. Many say it’s a great value for the price, especially for short stays centered around events. The Wi-Fi is reliable, and travelers appreciate the easy check-in/check-out process.

Areas for Improvement

The rooms are on the smaller side, so don't expect tons of space if you're traveling with gear or a big group. Sound insulation isn’t perfect, so light sleepers might want earplugs just in case. Also, while there’s no restaurant or bar on-site, the neighborhood keeps things interesting if you're up for exploring.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a no-fuss, budget-friendly stay near Brooklyn's top music venues, The L Hotel hits the right note for concert-goers who want comfort, convenience, and value.

Good

Liked: 1.Very nice friendly people at desk2.Clean3.Free parking (a real plus)4.Good location – near subway, and within walking distance (if you are a walker) of Sunset Park and Park Slope. The City Industry is only two blocks away. Here you will find many plaes to eat, food to buy and the Japanese Village. The neighborhood itself is a great mixture of all cultures which makes it very interesting.5.The subway is a few blocks away and the 36th street station is an express stop so the time into the city is much faster than having to go on a local all the way.
Disliked: 1.My room had only one accessible outlet that was used by the microwave, the coffee maker and the refrigerator (not at the same time since there are only two plugs in the outlet). If I wanted to plug my computer in, I needed to unplug one of the appliances. This outlet is located under the desk. The TV uses an outlet higher on the wall which is not accessible. There also is no accessible outlet on either side of the bed. The lamp outlets are in back of the headboard. I had to charge my phone in the bathroom. This problem can be easily solved without having to rewire the room by purchasing three lamps that have plugs and USB out outlets. If you visit a room like I had make sure you bring a strip that you can plug into the outlet and use several things at once.2.The breakfast was not that great. They had very few options and did not have any orange juice. For a New York hotel the bagels were horrible.Would I stay at this hotel again, yes. I do plan on staying there again, I just will know what to expect. The free parking is a definite plus, however, there are only about 15 spots for the whole hotel, so you may have to wait to get a spot.
