Poor

Liked: Person @ breakfast was very good.
Disliked: It was being refurbished which I understand needs to happen but should be told before booking not after you have booked and paid your money.

Great hotel and location

Liked: Given the Scottish Government's mini National Lockdown it was great that the hotel phoned ahead and booked us in for dinner. There were some great choices and the food was excellent. The staff were great throughout our stay, the room was cosy with a really good shower in the bathroom. The hotel is right across the road from the harbour and ferry terminal.
Disliked: The crazy Scottish Governments mini national lockdown did not take into account the lack of prevalence of Covid-19 in Orkney so to not be able to have wine with our meal was disappointing and out with the control of the hotel it has to be said. Other than that everything within the hotel's control was first class.

Superb

Liked: Staff were friendly and very helpful. Didn?t catch his name but gentleman on reception was exceptional. Hotel is going to be amazing when finished as standards are very high. Food was great and all COVID rules were in place to make us feel very safe. Views from our room were amazing- over the busy harbour.
Disliked: On going works could have been an issue but really didn?t affect us

Very good

Liked: Great value for money. Currently under renovation, which the hotel gave plenty of notice about and had no impact on our stay. When we visited the restaurant, bar and reception had been completed to a really high standard - if the rest of the renovation follows suit then this'll be at 4/5 star level. Food was great and reasonably priced with large portions.

Disliked: Building site outside our room, corridor carpet covered in paint, noise like electric drill above our room all day and night.

Hotel was just a bit...

Liked: Good breakfast -pleasant staff. Central Location . Some staff more helpful than others.Well organised for current Covid situation.
Disliked: Pretty dull decoration -refurbish long overdue. Parking not always available as vans parked for days in spaces.

Convenient for late arrival and...

Liked: Easy late evening check-in after our arrival on the late ferry from Shetland. Spacious room with nice view of the harbour. Breakfast was good, Staff friendly behind their masks. The bar was good and was one of a very few still open in these strange covid times. The ground floor has been refurbished and is quite stylish. Work continues elsewhere but it didn't interrupt our stay at all.
Disliked: There's a free unlimited car park almost opposite the hotel - less than 5 minute walk away but the instructions from the hotel could have been simpler. Very difficult to see the hotel name when arriving in the dark and heavy rain - please put up a lower or illuminated sign.
