Underwhelming

Liked: Staff were pleasant, especially the lady on reception in the evening. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean (except for a cushion that had a dirty stain on it when we turned it over!). Bathroom was modern. We liked the old-fashioned charm.
Disliked: Instructions for the shower would have been helpful as it was not intuitive and you have to stand under the showerhead to turn the taps, resulting in an unwelcome blast of cold water! We didn’t enjoy our meal in the restaurant. At £150 for a room overlooking two pubs and when we opened the door a view directly into an untidy corridor used for storage, it didn’t feel worth the price. This was meant to be a treat on our last night in Orkney and it was underwhleming.

I wish we could stay...

Liked: The hotel is atmospheric and very centrally located while being on the seaside. It is a short walk to ferries and buses and also to the cathedral and museums in Kirkwall. We loved the more spacious room 102 (although being just over a bar is not the best location for a Friday night - unless you are in the bar at that time as well :) This was a navy headquarters building so plenty of objects reminding of the past. The reception and restaurant staff are lovely and also very helpful.
Disliked: The cleaning staff ritual of placing clean towels on the corridor floors where everyone walks in their outdoor shoes.

Idéal place to visit Orkney

Liked: The view, the confort of the room, the bed, the restaurant
Disliked: The breakfast buffet: too limited choice

Disliked: Breakfast dishes a bit too salty.

Bloody amazing and good memories...

Liked: Lovely staff and all from Orkney, apart from Simon
Disliked: Well all brill, but to be critical.. sorry hide the shite.. lock up or hide the mess. Example on way to toilets down stairs, pass places where shite hidden all businesses have these, but in a hotel need to hide.. sane as going into sports bar. But just picking as a boss myself.. made no difference to stay..
